Who we are doesn't always align with who we think we are. We do all kinds of things, like wearing certain clothes or cutting our hair a certain way, to create an image of ourselves for the outside world to see that we are not truly on the inside. Everybody does this, even the people who say they don't care about appearance. And it's not just about appearance either. It's things we say, how we say them and also what we tell ourselves. But the funny thing is that everyone sees right through these 'decorations' and we all know that underneath all this is a totally different person. All these things are just a way to sketch a persona or give off a vibe of the way we'd like the world to see us. It's just something we should be aware of. People are not how they appear. It is all just a big show. Almost everything we show the outside world is meaningless and a lie basicly. Imagine this, how would the world look like if who we truly were showed on the outside and who we wanted to be we kept to ourselves?
