Bench day #2 today, benches were being used so I warmed up on the decline bench and decided to see how many reps I could get at RPE 6-7. Pretty happy with 20. This is about 75% of the way to a nice ipf style range of motion. I need to get more flexible, so I can get to this position on flat.

80 lbs squat pr, 33lb pr on bench, and deadlift took at 10lb drop by missing 3rd. No excuses for the misses, just broke down technically. I can't thank @therippedariel_

Here’s another one to go in the “Do this everyday” category.
You’re already doing 100 band pull-aparts a day (right?), might as well use the band for one of the best shoulder mobility exercises you can do.
Start with your hands wide and try to bring the band over your head and behind your back - without rolling your shoulders forward, bending the elbows, etc.
If you can’t get all the way back just go to where you feel a stretch and try to get further each session.

Not warming up properly is easily one of the most common mistakes you’ll see in the gym.
This is a good one to do before benching, especially if you’ve got banged up shoulders/elbows.
Go slow on the way down (5-6 seconds) and pause briefly at the bottom. Keep the reps lower, 5-6 should be good, as the goal isn’t to be overly fatigued before moving on to other exercises.

Played around a lot with bench grip today. Left is ring finger on the ring with a normal grip and right is max comp grip with a bulldog grip. The difference in ROM isn't drastic yet but a new bench goal from here on out will be to get the ROM below 240.

Using dumbbells instead of a barbell for benching offers two big advantages, but people often fail to take advantage of them.
1️⃣The ability to use a greater range of motion (your hands can't go lower than your chest with a barbell). More range of motion = more muscle. Go lighter and go all the way down.
2️⃣The ability to use different grips. A bar locks your hands in a pronated position, whereas dumbbells allow you to use a more natural semi-pronated or neutral grip. This is usually much more comfortable and easier on the shoulders in the long run.

If you're looking for something different to do to mix up your chest routine then try this! Simple yet effective, band flyes instead of cable flyes or crossovers!

This is an exercise that can be performed in the gym if the cable machines are taken or possibly all the benches, and can even be done at home if you have something to anchor the band to! Setup is easy and all you need is any band with any resistance you prefer, because this is an isolation exercise not a strength or power exercise, and something stable to wrap the band around, like a power rack or smith machine or if you're at home maybe your stairs post.

Start the exercise just like you would a normal flye or cable crossover bringing your arms together and concentrating on squeezing your pecs. Hold the squeeze for a good second or two before releasing tension and returning to the starting position. The biggest key here is to really control the eccentric, or going back, portion of the movement because the band will want to pull your arms back fast due to increased tension, so keep it tight and controlled all the way back!

The increased tension from the band as you perform the concentric, or squeeze portion, of this movement lengthens the band and the tension becomes harder than if you were to do this with cables or dumbbells due to the band lengthening. Think of stretching out a rubber band and as it gets longer how much harder it is to pull! So as you squeeze you get more and more resistance as well as a great pump to help with pec growth!
