It only took me 6 years of deadlifting to find the best stance/set up for my body and its leverages. 😅 #latebloomer . TBH I knew a wider deadlift stance would be better for me, but I never had the strength or flexibility to heavy deadlift like that. My knees would fall in and my inner thighs would scream at me if I tried. . I’ve be doing wide stance box squats regularly over the last 6 months and IMO that’s what’s made this new stance possible. . A cool thing about having a hobby or sport that you love is seeing the progression you make in your craft over time as you constantly experience new lessons and experience personal bests. . At times in can be frustrating when days, months or even years seem to go by without as much progress as you like, but that’s also what makes the daily work worth doing. . I’ve learned, Never be too attached to what you think you know. . #bigmountainbarbell#bmbfamily#deadlifts#powerlifting#utahpowerlifting#fitcon#teamfitbliss#breakthrough#xtremeperfect
After some chest and shoulder work it was time to visit my old friend the #shoulderrok. I bought one before and it disappeared after leaving it at lifetime fitness one day... That's a whole other story. Luckily #bigmountainbarbell has a few. If you don't know what it is, take a look at @kabukistrengthlab, they have some awesome stuff! It's really a tool you need to get used to and kind of need to practice it pretty often. However, it really opens up the shoulders a bit and actually gives you a great workout. It's great at the beginning or end of the workout!
My whole life I have had a reason to stay strong and in shape. From high school to collegiate sports then to my years on wild land fire crews. I loved having a reason to train hard so I could perform well in my sport or job. Now my job is to manage the gym and sell real estate, two things I really enjoy, but I don’t need to be in great shape to do either. Over the past two years I have felt myself slip from being the guy who finishes 4th in a 50 k race in the Grand Canyon to someone who gets winded walking up the stairs. THIS IS NOT OKAY AND IT STOPS NOW! I have made the commitment to myself to get back to who I once was so that I can have that feeling of pride in myself that is earned on a daily basis through sweat and hard work. If you have similar feelings I invite you to join me! We are creating a culture that will hold you accountable and push you to be the best you! Oh heeyyyyyyy Deadlift PR, come back soon so I can secure that 675😘! No complaints from me today, first a 30# PR followed by almost 70#!!! That marks the second time ever, of me failing a deadlift that I was able to budge off the floor... so basically, it’s getting serious and 675 will be up reeeaaaalllll soon.
