Browsing around social media I come across so many negative comments and bullying, and it's just very sad to see how mean people are. How to hurt a person's feeling so carelessly? Especially when it comes to their looks, the natural looks they were born with, the looks that makes them unique!
This is me, the real me, the natural hair, not even mascara, the only thing I usually use as my "every day make up". I was a victim of bullying as a child because of my hair. It was even more voluminous back then, as it was not this long. The kids would say that I have a nest on my hair, a mop, a pumpkin; they used to call me a poodle, and many more things, I even remember someone sticking a chewing gum very close to the roots, and as we couldn't remove it completely mom had to cut it, as you can guess, I was in tears.
I will be honest, I used to hate my hair, even during early college years I remember a girl telling me "Thank God I don't have your hair, I mean don't get me wrong, but that's just a mess" Oh well, I am very happy to have this "mess" on my head. Yes, I use conditioners for my hair, treatments to make it more manageable and less frizzy, I wear it straight, or I leave it the way it is, and usually put it up, cause it is way too hot to walk around with hair down, I am happy with any look, it is important to realise that you have something different, and there is nothing wrong about it.
My message here is - be proud with the way you are, change something about yourself only if that is what you really want, don't try to fit some society standards. Those who are throwing painful words left and right are unhappy and insecure people, and they actually need love and care, so ignore them, and if they bother you, just remove them from your social media accounts. As I was saying, people's actions are not under your control, but your reactions are!
