This is part of an extract from the Bible verse Matthew chapter 19, a story of the rich young man who approached Jesus seeking ways in which he (the rich man) could guarantee his entrance into the Kingdom of heaven.
He was given to simple answers:
1). He should follow the Lord's commandments.
2). He should give away all his riches to the poor and seek the riches of heaven. "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of heaven"
Money or wealth is the root cause of a lot of evil in the world. *It causes greed and jealousy *It makes people do inhuman acts just to gain it, for example killing. *It makes people seek evil spirits in pursuit of it. *It makes people defy their dignity and human principals for it. "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake, will receive a hundred times more and will be given eternal life. "
So would you be willing today to give it all away for the sake of Christ?
Not forgetting that at the end, all this will mean nothing to us, cause it will all remain on earth.
We won't carry that fancy car, watch, house or the dollars in our bank accounts to the after life, we will leave it all here on earth.

My sister-in-law and I were talking yesterday about how, as we get older, we really only desire a peaceful life. Even more so than a happy one. It was a good chat... made me think. Those are the best chats. 🙂

This is a boat I found on the shore of Kalapa, Haiti that the local fishermen carve out of a tree. They use boats like these to drag nets through the water in the hope of catching fish for the village. As I stood on the shore and watched the fishermen at work, I was reminded of a story about Jesus standing on a shore watching some local fishermen and giving them advice. "Throw your net on the right side of the boat," Jesus told them, "and you will find a catch." When the fishermen did, they caught 153 large fish! Which is raises the question—you ever wondered why we’re told they caught exactly 153 fish?
Well, the Jews believed there were 153 pagan nations on the other side of the Sea of Galilee, so when Jesus told them to throw their nets on the other side of their boat, they understood that he was telling them to spread his gospel to new people who hadn’t heard his message yet. And I believe he is telling us to do that same thing today!
Have you shared your faith with the same family and friends over and over? Perhaps Jesus is telling you that it's time to try the other side of your boat at work or school or at home. •

Today's message.
Fact is;
God has always had your back
GOD has always listened to you
GOD has always been there for us even when we barely realized it.
HE is just waiting for us to act like it.
So you better start acting like GOD is in control of your life.

FEASTING YOUR EYES! “For my eyes have seen Your salvation Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭2:30-32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ One of my favourite parts about Christmas is the Dinner. I mean there’s pigs in blankets, turkey or goose, crispy roast potatoes.... oh boy I cannot wait.
We feast on a great deal of things throughout the Christmas Festivities don’t we. Be it the bountiful food or the generous gifts from friends and family.
In the Gospel of Luke, we read about a man called Simeon who was a holy man and he was blessed to be able to live long enough to see the Christ Child.
Simeon feasted his eyes on the child that would become the Salvation of the world. A light to bring out the darkness!
It can sometimes be hard to look at Jesus in this period of the year because we are so caught up with Christmas present shopping, food shopping, working, running around Carolling to our hearts content.
Remembering to feast on the right things this Christmas can be difficult to do, certainly when we do get caught up with all the festivities but what a blessing we have to be able to feast our eyes on the Face of Jesus each day with him in our lives?
Sometimes we can be blind to Jesus as we get anxious about how much we spend and how much worry we have to cope with at this time of year but if we focus on what this little Boy Child brought and brings to us even now, we will watch as our anxiety falls away.
In the coming week or so before Christmas Day, please spend time to focus on the manger but also don’t forget what this birth did for mankind and what this little boy grew up to do for each one of us!

When peace feels far away, when the noise, the fast pace, the difficult moments rise up and cause anxiety we have some tools in our belt. God's word has so much to offer us and today I feel like this little bit right here is the recipe for peace. I don't believe that peace is our natural state but it is something God desires for us. But we have to seek it and pursue it. Psalm 34:14... I remember a long time ago looking at Philippians 4:6-7 thinking what a crock! It's too simple yet too hard all at the same time. The words REJOICE, THANKSGIVING and PRAY were the words that stood out in bold. They were shouting at me from the page. I was desperate. As much as I didn't believe it could work for me, I was willing to try. It wasn't an overnight miracle. It was however the beginning of something new for me. God's word became more than a to do check mark or a routine, it became my very breath. It became something I craved. The more I filled up on God's word the easier this passage became for me to relate to and implement. The more it became truth in my life. The more I could see the promise was for me. Counting my blessings and offering thanksgiving became a regular part of my life, not a seasonal ritual. With it my heart posture shifted. I was able to see so many blessings that I was blind to. Even some of the most painful and difficult things that had been weighing me down had gifts tucked inside. Anxiety took a backseat to rejoicing and my prayers shifted from a desperate monologue to a sweet dialog. Peace is possible. In all things. But we have to intentionally go out on a limb and seek it... I love how the Bible adds "and pursue it!" Pursue it. Keep going. Don't stop. Always moving toward it. Don't get caught up in those big bold words that seem impossible and do what I did and glaze right over the promise in the next verse: "and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding WILL guard your hearts and your minds..." Phil: 4:7. Lean in to the promise. #bornagainbrand #peace #philippians #tuesdaytruth #bibledevotion #ambersjournal #rejoice #pray #thanksgiving #godspromises #journalingbible

Here’s one of our dilemmas as Christians: God made a beautiful world for us to live in. It is full of treats, attractions, and sensory delights, all of which he made to bring us pleasure. Travel, golf, cabernets, gardening, web surfing, scotch, dancing, and zip-lining are all great fun. But all of them can also turn into time wasters, money pits, addictions, and ultimately harmful distractions from developing our relationship with God.
.
How do you know when your love for these things is getting unhealthy? When they stoke your own self-absorbed narcissism. When you’re too busy to go to church. When there is no time in the week for reading your Bible. .
When your life is too full to accept a ministry role in your congregation. When your relationships with other family members are fraying. If you are not sure if any of these things applies to you, ask someone in your family.
.
What to do? “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.” (1 Peter 2:2)
Take inventory of the things that you know really matter. .
Is God where he belongs in your life—on the throne? Is your spouse still your number-one person? Are you risking your job and income with your passions? Are you spending enough time with your children?
.
Grow in your ability to enjoy God’s treats without becoming worldly. How would you live if you knew you had only a week left? 😊

❄️On This Snowing 🌨 Sunday Morning All You Need Is Some Bible Scriptures And A Cup Of Coffee ☕️. Happy Sunday Everyone ❄️. ______________________________________________📸@teandcoff

If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

FOWARD THINKING “So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:15-16‬ ‭MSG‬‬ I have never been that good at sports. I used to play Rugby quite well but put me on a 100m track race, you wouldn’t see me do too well.
Athletes go through fitness tests, training routines and strict diet plans to become the best that they can be at their sport. They will get up early, prep for the day and then go out and plan their day according to their routines.
Being a Christian is the same in a way.
We must wake, ‘feed’ ourselves with the right things and prep for what the day may throw at us.
I don’t know about you but I am not the best of keeping up a prayerful routine. I am going to be honest with you, I find it difficult to think of what to say sometimes so it just becomes a small 2 minute thing.
Being a Christian was and never will be easy. The life we have chosen to fight for will not be easy BUT if we remain faithful to what God is doing within our lives, nothing but a Faith Forward Thinking attitude will come to our minds.
It is easy to get caught up in the problems and stress we face right now that we forget to think of the future. We forget to plan for what is ahead.
We read in Philippians “God will clear your blurred vision - you’ll see it yet!” (message translation). God will in time show his purpose to us. We must have faith to not miss it. We must have the faith to focus and the forward thinking to press onward to that purpose.
As we go into this weekend, I just pray that those opportunities you have been waiting for will become clearer and come to pass!

May God continue to work in you and bring you to a forward thinking life with Jesus bang in the middle of what you do and say.

F U L F I L L I N G • O U R • P U R P O S E ‬“But I, with shouts of grateful praise, WILL SACRIFICE TO YOU. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the LORD.’ ””
‭‭Jonah‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Sometimes it can be easier for us to pretend we weren’t listening so that we can do what we want to do.
There are so many cases within the Bible where people have been guided and spoken to about going to different places or do different things and have done them faithfully.
One of my favourite stories in the Bible and I have shared this a few times is that of Jonah.
He’s a man with a heart of Velvet Covered Steel. He knew what he wanted but he also felt the tug of God ‘fulfilling what was right’ within his heart. This ambitious guy tried his best to run away to a far distant place to get away from that God-fulfilling-purpose because it wasn’t really what he wanted to do.
Sound familiar?

It Does to me.
In Matthew’s Gospel we read: “So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was FULFILLED WHAT WAS SAID through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2:21-23‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Joseph a man who was told that his Virgin Fiancée was to have a baby, must have had to have had a lot of faith to believe what he was told. This man was to carry the weight of the worlds need as we helped the Donkey up the hill with his pregnant bride saddled upon it. This man would fight to bring his new baby boy and bride to a peaceful place to grow and live!
What I want to get across here is that everything happens for a reason.
God has amazing plans be it for your life or to use you to bring someone else’s life to a point of where they should be.
Sometimes it’s easy to think we know best but how wrong is that. Let us fulfil what is right by obeying the calling of God and being used as we do to bring others to know him.

We have been digging through scripture together in Proverbs. Today we are reflecting on the last two days lessons and adding these bracelets to the line. We chose these bracelets so that we could carry God's word with us in a very literal sense. Sometimes these bracelets are a way for us to memorize scripture but most often they are reminders that we need in our own lives and we want the constant reminder throughout the day so that our hearts and minds can be transformed through truth. I love Lysa TerKeurst.

I don’t know her personally, and she definitely doesn’t know me, but her written word, her obedient heart to the Lord, her transparency, honesty and wisdom seem to have been directed only to me the last few years, out of the thousands, and maybe millions who follow her. These screen shots are from the First 5 app of devotions I read.

My recent blog post from the beach was beautifully affirmed with this devotion, and everything I clicked through to read more.
She is experiencing her own excruciating battles, and despite moments of fear and tears I know creep in her life, she is like a lighthouse for Jesus to the rest of us walking similar, rocky roads.
If anyone knows her...i believe they were from Birmingham... I need to meet her. Please pray I get that opportunity.

@lizzy.milani thank you for living a surrendered life to the calling that God has placed on you. Your devotions @pocketfuel have been so instrumental to my mornings. Currently reading their “Advent” devotional series and I’m loving it ❤️ “Come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20) are the final words of the Bible. Even though Christ has come, he’s still on his way. This makes our entire lives one huge “advent.” And the practice of advent each Christmas as relevant as ever. Advent is always — until the end of days. Future Things

The LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?
- Joel 2:11

Both in the Old and New Testaments, "the day of the Lord" refers to some obvious and initial events which fulfill specific prophecies.
However, both here in Joel and many other places in Scripture, the ultimate and final day of the Lord is speaking of the return of Jesus Christ from heaven to earth and the conclusion of history. This is the day of the Lord, the final day of life on this earth.

And Joel appropriately describes Christ's second coming as both great and terrible. For those who look by faith to Christ and long for his return, the day will not only be great in its import and power, but in the joy that it brings. The redemption, the deliverance for which they have so long hoped, will finally be a reality. Glorified body and sanctified soul will unite to praise the Savior forever.

However, for those who persist in rebellion against their Creator, who assure themselves that they are not accountable for their actions, this day is terrible. When the voice that called the universe into existence is heard at the forefront of His heavenly army, no one will stand against Him. He is strong to execute, to fulfill, his word.

As he has promised, everyone will give an account of their deeds and be judged before the throne of Christ. Those not found in him will be punished by him.

How do you see that day? Will it be great to you, or will it be terrible?

LIGHT BULB MOMENT! “He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭ESV‬‬ I am a big believer in turning off lights unless I am actually in that room. Beth will sometimes be running from one room to another and I would be following her around turning lights off. We are on a meter so any pennies we can save, awesome!
Today’s ‘title’ is a Light Bulb Moment. I don’t know about you but these opening few verses in the Gospel of John really confused me. I don’t know why but I just felt like this man was so in love with Jesus that he was doing what I did when I first got with Beth, talk a load of gobbledegook.
In the next few weeks we will be very much focusing on this child, this small infant who would grow to become not only the son of God but also the light of the world.
We are called as disciples of Jesus to also be lights of the world (Matthew 5:14) but what does this truly mean?

This idea of us being the “lightbulb” in the dark room is where I see it.
It isn’t the main source of the light. If it wasn’t for a electrical currant running to the bulb, that light will not work. If it wasn’t for those wires connected to the fuse, no feed will get to the bulb to shine that light.
How similar is this to us and our connection with God?

If we are not connected daily to the Father, how can we do this important task of being the light of the world?
A bulb that is not screwed into the socket is just a fragile glass sphere that has so much to offer given its purpose.
YOU ARE THE SAME!
Sometimes we get caught up with life that we find ourselves not being that light which is needed to shine the way for others.
I can quite happily raise my hand and say that I am the same. I have got caught up with my work, the stresses it brings and this has probably got in the way of me being that Light bulb BUT remaining connected is so important to bring that light back.

We some time think that God is only interested in you going to church and He has no interest in any other aspect of your life. I think we get this from our parents, as long as we are eating well, studying hard and going to church they have no interest in any of our other hobbies. You hardly hear of a parent interested in the their kids gym progress or a book they are reading. The problem is we reflect that on God. ---
The truth is that God is interested in your sports, what book you read, places you go when you travel, friends you make. They are all ways we can and should be glorifying God. You know the saying "if God is not the God of all He is not God at all"

Ever since Eve and Adam ate that evil fruit sin has ran deep through this world. I’ve heard it put that Grace is the opposite of what we deserve and yet still, God was so gracious to send his son here to willingly die to give us an undeserving chance to go through the pearly gates to meet Him. I love this quote because it is saying that sin runs so deep, but His grace runs EVEN deeper. Just know that if you think you are in too deep with your sins you are NEVER too far for God’s amazing grace to reach you.
