So after much testing. The @madebyknock #aerdisc results.
So logo up. Smaller holes, more resistance longer( slightly ) depression. I get a cleaner cup, lighter and more nuanced. Fewer fines
Larger holes, less resistance, slightly fuller cup , sweetness more pronounced but not overly, slightly richer/fuller , more fines. ( still v few)
The differences are small but are deff there. I think it depends on the coffee as well. I preferred logo up with the Kenyan I tested with but my new Burundi tastes better logo down!
These were tested in the same conditions, same weight, same temp, same time, same grinder setting ( on the #aergrind )and on same test beans. I only mentioned the Burundi as I thought it was an interesting point that the actual coffee has an effect as well.
On the grinder. I am incredibly impressed it's a little work horse. The blades are broken in now and I've adjusted for the change from lock position which has moved 1 point off the zero. The grind is incredibly consistent, the grinder feels natural in your hand as well. It's so easy to carry in my bag to work but if someone was having this as there only grinder I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
