Golden hour in the Glacier Peak Wilderness ✨⛺️☁️
Not pictured: two broken tent zippers and my sick-in-bed husband. Tyler and I had set out on a 4 day backpacking trip along the Suiattle River and deep into the Glacier Peak Wilderness. On the first night, his side of the tent zipper broke. No big deal! The next night, my tent zipper broke too. 😂 .
We had the most wonderful time meeting the ranger named Russ at Miner's Ridge Lookout. He told stories of the history of the area and his personal experience being a volunteer Lookout ranger. It was one of my favorite parts of the trip! .
The next day we continued on the trail to our campsite at the top of the pass pictured here. We scrambled a nearby peak and mustered enough energy (after a snickers bar) to explore a few glacial lakes in the valley below. At the end of the day, we had to hike back up the pass. After dinner, tyler got really sick to his stomach. He was exhausted and dehydrated. We were 18 miles from the car. I took care of him and he was able to get down some emergency rehydration salts before bed. I was grateful for the Wilderness first aid course we took this spring! He slept 12 hours that night while I stayed up watching millions of stars dance in the night sky. The next morning, he woke up feeling better just as the sun appeared on the horizon. ✨#ourpnw #optoutside
