What does it smell like:
Sweet with rose, candied cherry, strawberry jam, blackberry and moments of a subtle briary stemminess. There are also a fair bit of creamy, almost custard-like, vanilla aromas (reminiscent of Italian Crostoli pastries) some new leather and hints of clay.

What does it taste like?
Sharp and almost too sweet with fresh cherry, Maraschino cherry, cranberry and anise. A little green and herbal in the mid palate. Very dry finish with bitter and gripping tannins that leave your mouth stripped of moisture and are almost Barolo like! Flavours of zingy freeze dried raspberries are hanging out on the back of my mouth after the sip is well and truly finished.

I was so excited to try this wine because i was a MASSIVE fan of the 2012 and 2013 Thousand Candles Pinot Noir (blends). I want to be honest...i was a little sad when i tasted this wine initially because it really is nothing like those great vintages before it. However, that aside, this is a good Pinot Noir and for the price point, an even better wine! Focused and fresh with sweet rose, candy like cherries, sharp red berries and green herbals this Pinot Noir is clean and elegant and has a pocket full of tannins that leave you needing another sip! Well matched with the beautiful La Luna goats cheese from #holygoatcheese and an afternoon to enjoy it!

What does it taste like?
Beautifully smooth, a touch smokey and juicy with ripe mixed red berries, cherry, strawberry leather, vanilla and some spices like star anise, clove and nutmeg. Creamy, rich and powerful with an extremely polite acidity and assertive tannins giving you a bitter chew at the end. The tail is very long and pleasurable leaving you with a mix of ripe berries, soft apple juice, vanilla and a prolonged swell of tannin.

To me, this wine feels like an old soul... complexed, strong, sophisticated, focused and pure. You know it has been crafted with maturity and knowledge from its winemaker to bring the absolute best out of the grapes and the result is awesome! I drank this in silence, admiring and experiencing what i felt to be its story with every sip...one at a time. Beautiful Pinot and one i will always remember. I may have found my new favourite Aussie Pinot!

- An amazing nose that is complex, nuanced and intriguing. Quite deep and almost effervescent aromas of red berries, cherry, dried cranberry, goji berry and some floral notes of rose. Freshly cut mushroom, dried earthy herbals, forest moss and a well defined structure of minerality, shown through some salinity and slate-like aromas.

What does it taste like?
- Dry and vibrant in the mouth with focused flavours of sour cherry, tart plum, underripe strawberry and a hint of white strawberry that is all tied together with a very subtle and irresistible confectionary like sweetness. Some mossy green, almost forest herbal notes come in early and disappear into a tail of tart red berries with incredibly refined tannins that dry the sides and make you salivate!

This is a seriously clean, very pure and focused example of a Tassie Pinot Noir. Alive with fresh, untainted red berries, good minerality, a great acidity and focused tannins making this a sophisticated drinker and one to savour! Very good wine!

What does it smell like:
- Generous aromas of plum, Maraschino cherry and strawberry set the foundation for this Tassie pinot noir. Sweet floral violets and fennel seed accent the fruit with notes of sweet paprika and green stem-like herbals. Subtle oak characters come through in touches of new leather, vanilla, sandalwood and cedar, which grows as the wine opens up. A fair hit of alcohol is noticeable also.

What does it taste like?
- In the mouth it’s smooth, creamy and full of fresh red berries with an exceptional acidity that balances it all out beautifully. Generously juicy with the clean flavours of red berries, red and black mulberry, strawberry and sharp raspberry mixed with creamy vanilla...the combo of the berries, vanilla and the acidity reminds me of strawberry flavoured yoghurt πŸ€“ A fair bit of a cedar woodiness is coming through on the back palate. The tail is super clean, long and chewy and the finish is seamless with a sophisticated interplay between the red berry juice, acid and beautifully refined tannins.

The first sip sent me into a happy place and made me sit back in my chair with content. This wine is full of power, freshness and fruit and it overdelivers on smell and flavour in the best of ways! Beautifully balanced with ripe red berries, confident acidity and seamlessly intergrated oak and tannins. Again, another great Tasmanian Pinot Noir and a must have wine for the cellar! I’d happily keep another bottle for the next 5yrs. Awesome wine!

What does it smell like:
- What an interesting wine!! Velvety and deep with aromas of ripe red berries, plum, cherry, blackberry and strawberry jam, with moments of concentrated juice that is somewhat port like. There are also herbaceous moments of leafy mulch, fennel and tomato stems and another level of savoury toasted grains, tomato paste, a meatiness of roast drippings and an earthy minerality of freshly turned red clay. Oak nuances of cedar and cigar-box come through too giving a woody and smokey depth to it!

What does it taste like?
- It takes a while to open up so a decant is necessary with this wine. Straight away, this wine tastes refined and is amazingly balanced and full of ripe berry juice! Texturally it’s smooth, rich and clean and carries flavours of ripe red berries, dark plum, plenty of ripe cherry, notes of black liquorice and when you swallow it gives you a warming cuddle in your chest! Super refined tannins play around at the end and a lovely tail of red apple and floral apple sweetness finishes off the mouthful.

This is a very sophisticated and extremely well made wine. In all honesty, I’m not sure I’ve had a better Australian Pinot Noir than this! It is very French and it’s stunning me a bit! I love it...alot!!!!

- I probably should have decanted, but i didn’t...so, quite a reserved nose with a slow release of red berries, red cherry and oak notes of new leather, nutmeg, a touch of salt-cured meat and some slate-like minerality. There is also a cleansing floral smell that reminds me of traditional soap and has a subtle pot-pouri vibe about it! It’s actually really lovely!

- In the mouth it’s a play between plum, slightly tart but ripe cherry, deep raspberry, fennel and sweet vanilla. Very easy to drink and an all-round crowd pleaser. The finish is dry and clean and has very refined tannins that give a chew. The tail is of grape essence and blueberry and drifts off nicely.

A crowd pleaser and for the low price, a great choice for a group dinner. The word β€œclean” really sums up this Pinot Noir and it delivers lovely freshness and berry juice goodness. It’s safe, refined and yummy and definitely deserves a write up...good drop.

- The nose is flooded with violets and rose, ripe red berries, black plum and cherry that are almost effervescent. - Smooth and velvety with plenty of cherry, strawberry, raspberry, cranberry and hints of blueberry with a touch of smokiness, liquorice and vanilla. Not much acidity for such a young wine but it is still beautifully balanced and way too easy to drink. The finish is long, sweet and a touch dry revealing very refined tannins. -

This is a pretty amazing wine! Not really a traditional Pinot Noir packing such a big hit of juicy berry goodness, but a brilliantly balanced new style! Alive with fruits and boasting a balance that makes for an incredible drinker. This wine and winemaker have done Tassie proud!! Awesome!

What does it smell like:
- Earthy, deep plum, fiery red berries and a cloud of violets and pink rose hits you straight away! The aromas turn quite savoury after that and accents of what i can only describe as β€˜antipasto smells’ jump out! Sweet cured meat, sun-dried tomato, red chili and button mushroom! Spiciness of black pepper, juniper and grassy notes of fennel, dried herbs and hay. Smokey tobacco sits behind it all and a very savoury, iron-like, salinity definitely caught my attention.

A savoury and deliciously nuanced rusty-red Pinot Noir from Geelong! This was given to me as a present to try, and i think i may have found a new favourite! Complex and interesting enough in the nose to get lost in it and when you finally take your first sip you fall for it again! It’s so smooth and refined and is far too easy to drink and for a nerd, there’s plenty of reasons to keep you questioning and admiring each glass until you accidentally finish the whole bottle! Aromas and flavours of tomatoes, cherries, dried herbs and fiery red berries makes this a brilliant match for Pizza!!!
