I have a confession... I'm obsessed with breakfast!
I could happily eat breakfast foods for every meal of the day. I always set my alarm a little earlier to make time to eat before I leave the house... and when I roll out of bed and the first thing I think of is eating! It just sets such a good tone for the day and puts me on the path for making the right choices.
On the mornings I don't have time for breakfast I find myself losing focus, having low energy,and making poor food choices throughout the day.
I also noticed that when I had highly processed breakfast (like cereal or white toast) I crashed mid morning and craved something sweet! This was because of the huge spike and then crash in blood sugars after my meal.
I now put in the effort to have a wholesome breakfast high in fiber with a good mix of protein carbs and fat to give me steady long lasting energy throughout the day that wont end in a sugar crash that leads to cravings.
Most mornings I have the same staple breakfast which I jazz up with different foods everyday. At the moment my staple is oats, and I add fruits, nuts and chia seeds to really keep me going.
I also make sure to LOVE my breakfast enough that I even want to eat it on the weekends! There's no point eating a healthy cardboard breakfast everyday if you resent it and don't want to eat it. Find what works for you!
