Can you commit to 5 minutes a day?
Less than 2 months ago, I was terrified of picking up this instrument. I have not one musical bone in my body. I didn't grow up learning to play an instrument, I could never bring myself to sing in front of other people, and I just assumed this was a part of humanity that I didn't have in me.
But Capoeira has called me out again and again on things I told myself I "couldn't do." In December I committed to picking up the berimbau (seen here) 5 minutes every day. First, I'd try to hold it. Then, I'd try to play a rhythm. Then a second rhythm. Then, increase my speed.
And now, feeling pretty comfortable (albeit far from perfect), attempting to lead a song and play at the same time. If you would have asked me on December 1 if that amount of progress was possible I would have laughed you out of the room.
The same principles apply to anything you want to learn, including fitness skills, eating habits, etc.
Consistency for the win, again.
My heart is racing as I prepare to share this video of me singing (!) with the world, but the message is so important I can't keep it to myself.
Give yourself 5 minutes a day. You'll surprise yourself with what's possible.
