Can we all take a moment and think about this one. (Thank you @elegantalchemy for the picture! 🙌🏼) . . .
Being a creative business owner brings you face to face with this all the time. Some are inspired by you, some just bluntly copy your work and claim it theirs. While one works so hard to be original and brings in new ideas, there's always another one right behind ready to go, copy and run with it. I know they say that copying is the highest form of flattery, but let me tell you, when you browse on the internet or Instagram and you come across the (near) exact copy of your work, descriptions included, it really doesn't feel like flattery, it feels like theft. And while I have learnt to live with it, I still don't thinks it's right. It is w r o n g. @nordikatja and I have encountered so much copying ever since our first Nordic Gnomes were introduced in USA as the only gnomes that look like ours do. People found them quirky, odd but funny, and many were attracted, but not comfortable enough to buy. 😁 Fast forward couple of years when look-alikes of your work are mass produced in China and sold as handmade, not to mention that they've taken your words to sell them, you've done something right, right? 😉
Go and get inspired by others and offer competition, but stay creative, come up with something original, work hard to make it yours. Cheers to everyone who's doing just that, stay amazing, you rock!!! ❤️
