Parks and Recreation
TV Series: Complete
I sort of gave a tease in a previous post about this. But it's true that my next show in my hopefully ever lasting series of TV reviews will be covering none other than Parks and Recreation.
Now this is a show that I have been not really sure off at first, mostly because I wasn't into much TV shows at the time and the last comedy show I tried to watch (The Big Bang Theory), it did not go out so well.
But after seeing my family been literary obsessed with it over the summer, I knew that I have to see this for my self. So I took a good month and a half during my track season to complete this series and I seriously I understand why my family loves this show. I basically love it as well, maybe more than my family.. But I'll get to that later.
Let me just state the only true flaws with the show first. So the first season of this show is fine. It's not great, it's not awful, it's just fine. Obviously they were trying to find their groove and see what sticks for the rest of the series, but they are a little hard to get though that I can understand why people won't get into it at first. Thankfully it's only 6 episodes long and once you pass the first season, the show starts from okay to good within the 2nd season to great throughout the rest of the series.
Also there's one character (that will be discus later) that while not bad, doesn't really work within the rest of show and overall nature of each of the other characters.
So the rest of the series is just perfection.
What makes the show work so well is the dynamite nature of it's characters. Every main character in this show has their own sense of charm, likeness, and unique personally traits that manages to bounce out so well within the other characters when they share certain scenes with each other. Thus creating a lot of funny and entertaining moments that increases the shows great writing.
Because this has an ensemble cast, every character is given their moments to shine whatever it's for a a great comedic moment or give them character development that makes them grow and change throughout the show, and all of it works out so great that you get invested into them
