I've been straightening things out in my cave today and I found a small batch of old photos behind a speaker cabinet . This dark out of focus shot is the best of the bunch . It's from the tiny wheels and giant pants era , I'm guessing '91 . It's from Transitions Skatepark in East LA ., This was at their second location on Atlantic, just a few blocks north of Whittier blvd . Alec Schroeder built the ramps . They eventually moved it to a warehouse over by Cal State LA but he lady who owned it was basically a clueless hustler who didn't do shit right . For one she never paid Alec all the dough she owed him , so when the place moved he didn't put the vert ramp back up . She also never made much of an effort to keep her shop stocked and tried to get by mostly on product dudes gave her for skate time . A losing business strategy if ever there was one . Any shop would've killed for the traffic she got in her place and she didn't have the goods to serve them . Two of her shop employees were @ben10schroeder and @grossosucks . I can still remember Jeff getting his retirement model back then . It had a dude with a top hat on it and it said "Farewell," in bold lettering across the bottom of it . I guess not everyone knows but @grossosucks has been officially retired now for about 25 years . He just won't quit skateboarding , that's all . The dark out of focus shot of my smith grind was taken by some random dude . I showed up to session one night and some dude I didn't know handed it to me . That's East Los for you , random strangers doing some random-ass shit .
