So in recent years i've tried to stay away from mooncakes in general as i believe they are either too sweet or too greasy. Having said that, 3 weeks ago i was curious about #bengawansolo 's mini snowskin mooncakes.
Since they have one of the most popular #pandan chiffon cakes i figured, oh why not try the pandan one (there's a few other flavors available but i was dead set on pandan). I got a tin for my folks and a tin for the office. Ok i levied a little 'tax' on the tin for my folks (how come 2 mini mooncakes are missing? Mom asks innocently). The outcome? All gone within a day or two both at home and at the office. The tin was also missing after, at the office. 🤔
So, here's my take. It's got that nice pandan aroma when you first open it, and the taste is decidely non greasy and delicately sweet. There's no taste of that artificial coloring or flavoring somehow. Both the one with egg yolk and the one without are good, but the egg yolk one of course feels more satisfying. Because its a mini mooncake, you do away with the food coma that comes with eating the normal size traditional mooncakes.
Lastly of course, compared to many of the hotel mooncakes this was quite reasonably priced.
Warning!! Pace yourself, as the size belies its addictability. I didn't stop at one. *Burp*
Happy #Mooncake Festival everyone!!! 🌕🌛中秋快乐 #chinesefestival
