Have you ever noticed how all of the grocery store produce is "perfect"? Meaning no blemishes, no disfigurement, no odd shapes. They're all so... perfect.
I started painting a series of bell peppers, and I wanted to paint one of them in an "imperfect" way. It reminded me of some of the produce that grow in my garden that may not look the right way. Like my cucumber that was bent at almost a 90 degree angle. Or my bell pepper that had all sorts of oddly colored spots. But when I cut into it and ate it... it was the most delicious of them all! Have you ever experienced this?
So next time you're at the grocery store or farmer's market or wherever you get your produce.. don't overlook the "ugly" ones! Sometimes they're the tastiest.
