The problem with trying to do everything yourself - mistakes will eventually be made. I’ve been using a poor man’s scanner to digitize my negatives (ex. a digital camera, a sheet of vellum, piece of glass, and an iPad) I couldn’t figure out why my images were getting so much grain... like over the top grain. Turns out the vellum had a subtle grain to it that was coming through in the images.
It’s one thing to scan images this way for black and white, but color negs are so much more delicate and require much more attention to detail. A small scratch to a negative can ruin the image, dust on the negative makes for more work, improper white balance makes for off colors. So, my take away is to think through every step of every process and slow down. From composition, photographing, developing, processing and scanning, the smallest mistake can ruin everything. #foodforthought#35mmfilm

San Luis short cut. A big reason this place is so beautiful is the connection to nature through wide open spaces. Just a view of Cerro San Luis from a path that cuts across town.

Compare regular BW 4x5sheets to Infrared black and white film!

SLIDE#1: shot on #kodak txp ISO 320. Metered the shot at f/6.8 1/125. Tilted rear standard. No filter.
.
.
SHOT#2: No change in composition, shot on #rollieir400 (Rollie Infrared ISO400) with Hoya IR72 filter. The filter adds 8 stops so I metered around ISO 5 to f/6.8 1s. This film picks up much less of the available light in the foreground creating a dramatic high contrast. Infrared film is designed to pick up light on the spectrum your eyes can’t see. The film will shoot like a standard 400 speed film with out the use of the filter (with less tonality). However, the IR filter (basically a very deep red filter) is designed to limit the light to only IR light. With only IR light allowed through, the shadows, sky and ocean are a deeper color. The depth of field is much more dramatic too bc of the slowed shutter and the light received by the film. .
Which do you like more?

Although it was very hard for me to shoot with a TLR camera and almost broke my neck trying to focus and aligning, I really love shooting with my Yashica Mat 124G and planning to take it with me for my next trip.

Sıcaktan kendimizi Ördübek yaylasına atıp seçtiğimiz mekan çadır kurmaya niyetli aile tarafından beğenilip taciz edilince kendimize yeni bir yer aramaya koyulduk. Yaylanın kahvehanesinde bi çay molası yapalım diyerekten fotoğraftaki yere oturduk. Eski masalar, eski sandalyeler bizim eski kafamızla bulusunca hani şu eşiyle ciddi bakışlı fotoğraf çektiren adamların o güzel hatıralarından bizim de olsun diyerekten kadrajı ayarlamaya koyulduk. Sandalyeleri yan yana koyduk.
