Kalee my (toy poodle dog child) just turned 12 years old. She has a stage 4 heart murmur, enlarged heart and collapsing trachea which I found out has been getting worse from the pressure of her heart. The picture on the left was only 5 hours before we almost lost her. Around midnight, she was drinking water and the second she walked away, fell over from a horrible cluster of seizures. She has never had one before so the doctor couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her.
Finally, he decided to perform an X-ray of her heart and saw that Kalee’s left atrium valve had burst. He said typically dogs do not make it and can only live a few hours to a few days.
My boyfriend and I mustered up the courage to ask to bring her home. We didn’t sleep a wink, hoping to spend every last second with her. Around 4am, she vomited and passed out into it so we quickly grabbed her and sat her up so she wouldn’t choke. She was extremely week and could barely walk.
Around 5am, she started bleeding from her rectum so we decided to take her back to the ER.
It was heartbreaking 💔 and so scary but we felt blessed she made it through the night. A trauma dr and cardiologist performed a full diagnosis on her. The trauma doctor did not give us any reassurance that she would pull through today but Kalee fought (& maybe some of our prayers were answered). When the cardiologist performed an echocardiogram and Xrays to see how bad the tear was, they were able to see a 💜blood clot 💜 had started! We just found out she might make it through another night and possibly into recovery if the clot continues to heal so please send up 🙏🏻🙏🏻. I wanted to share kalee’s story so you all know what to look for and expect if that happens to your sweet baby. I’ll post updates as they come and appreciate any advice you all can share if you have a similar story. 🙏🏻
