COMPOUND V. ISOLATION

Good Thursday everyone!

This morning I tool my HRV for the first time and saw that I was good to go! So after a strong breakfast I hit the gym for a good Legs and Push session 💪😁 ❓ Compounds or Isolations ❓

What's the difference between both?
- compound exercises are multi jointed movements that work several muscles at the same time
- isolation exercises work one muscle or joint at a time

Both have their benefits!
Compounds: stimulates real life movement, works more muscles at the same time, overall strength and muscle development, corrects imbalances and coordination...
Isolation: correct muscle weaknesses or imbalances, focus on a specific muscle for size... My advice, combine both while focussing on the compounds: Deadlift, Squat, Bench press, Overhead Press 🍜 Today's post training meal: Vegan Buddha Bowl with Protein Bread
- in a bowl add: paprika, zucchini, mushroom and baked spinach
- mix together carrot, kidney beans and soy meat with spices
- warm in the microwave
- side with protein bread, tomato and cucumber

Quickly went to the doctor to get my bloos results and everything's a-okay, just a small consideration about my iron but that's easily resolved 🤔 got another course presentation to do this evening, going to be happy for the weekend 🙃

When I woke up this morning I fought with myself whether to train or not, but my own mind pushed me on 😅 so I jumped on my bike and headed to the gym for a quick fasted training session 💪😄 1. Rowing circuit

An excellent shorter session with high intensity! Tank was empty, needed some food! 🍜 Today's post training meal: a Protein Breakfast Spread!
After a fasted training session I love me a big meal
- vegan protein yoghurt with muesli and forest fruit
- bircher muesli with red berries
- protein oats with strawberries
- protein bread and rice cake slices
- fruit, tea and soy milk

In the end I was glad I did go train because I felt better for the remainder of the day, more alert and satisfied. Spent the short afternoon preparing a presentation for this evening's course 🙃

After yesterday I was in the mood for a more upperbody focused training session and built today accordingly 😄👌 plus that way my legs could rest a bit as well 😜 but today was still an intense session!

Work up to a 3RM on the back squat
Today managed a good 105kg 😄👍

- add together in a bowl: paprika, carrot, zucchini, mushrooms, lentils, quorn meat and spices
- warm in the microwave for 3mins
- garnish with salad, tomato, cucumber and Protein Bread slices
- sided by some soup and dig in 😋👌 Today exceptionally no evening course! Which allows me to carch up on some belated work 😂 while also going for a doctor's appointment and a library haul in the evening once all my work was done 🙃

The new week has started, edging us closer to the Neptunus Run! And after 2 days of rest I was ready to smash it in training 💪😄 so after a good breakfast I headed down to get the work done!

1. Warm up

2. Oly work - Clean
3x4 clean at 42.5kg
2reps every 45secs for 10.30mins at 52.5kg
3. Conditioning
2 rounds
50cal row
50 wall balls
400m run
50 thrusters (30kg)

4. Strength work
4x4 incline bench press as heavy as possible

5. Accessory work - Pull
Something that is often overlooked because it's not as fancy as all the rest is accessory work, and one good movement to implement:

Inverted Rows
✅Control the movement
✅Hold at the top
✅Slowly drop back
3x10 😄👌 🍜 Today's post training meal: Noodle Bowl with Tofu and Protein Bread!
- add together in a bowl: instant noodles, diced paprika, carrots, mushrooms, zucchini, tofu blocks and spices
- add boiling water and let steep for 15mins
- enjoy warm with slices of protein bread on the side

Managed to do some quick work and then go grocery shopping with my girlfriend, down a quick snack before heading to evening courses 😜 talk about a busy afternoon 😂
