Quick Thoughts (D.E.A.R.): Supergirl - Being Super (mini series). Cover by: Joëlle Jones. / Disclaimer: spoilers ahead /. A nice, short read. Mariko Tamaki has applied a "less super heroics or action" approach here and also at Marvel with the current She-Hulk series. No super villains, no moment of "Oh noes!! Someone noticed Kara using her powers and soon the truth about her is gonna spread!"... well, sort of. I have mixed feelings on the character Coach Stone doing experiments in secret (though I do think it was a good surprise). And the Kryptonian character Tan-On: the discovery and revenge maybe work better in a sequel?? .
While there is tragedy in this story, there's no moment of Kara going: "I have learned from this experience and it's now time put on a colorful costume!!". and Kara remembering her parents seems to be a good departure from the usual(?) idea of the character finding about her planet and family via information or recording on her pod.. unless, that's more common with Superman and not both characters? The ending of this mini series is good, the cameos in the final pages I see them as both a closing note or set up for another story. Joëlle Jones' art is phenomenal (also in the series Lady Killer). She needs to be cloned so that her art can be seen in as many series as possible. jejeje #MarikoTamaki #SanduFlorea #JoëlleJones #Comicsgram #SaidaTemofonte #KellyFitzpatrick #BeingSuper #PlanetKrypton #JoelleJones
