After strolling around the farms. We are lucky to get to see the owner of SOM himself. A young man on his early 20s. Eager to learn and share his knowledge about organic farming. Astoundingly passionate on organic agriculture and the well being of Indonesian farmers.
We talked for awhile. He shared some valuable knowledge regarding organic farming. Such as what to see and consider when we're checking on an organic rice field. Or how to get your seasonal fruit tree keep on producing fruits even when it is not the season. Or how to make an awesome organic pesticide.
We got a lot of new insights and knowledge regarding to organic farming from him.
In the end, he told us to appreciate the farmers behind the food we eat. Because they have worked so hard and waited so long, taking good care of those plants so we can have our food.
And the simplest, easiest way to do that is by finishing your meal to the very last bite.
After seeing all the troubles a farmer goes through just to get a plate of food for us to eat, now finishing meals seems like an honor.
