A big #womancrushwednesday shout out to someone whose book inspired my dramatic change of career. A mahoooosive thank you to @_sarahwilson_ for writing I Quit Sugar. It piqued my interest when I spotted it in Melbourne, so I bought it and read it cover to cover on the flight home to London.

That snowballed into studying nutrition, leaving a job at Coca-Cola (yes, I know....the irony, or luck, depending on your point of view) to set up #GloriousWellness. And the rest, well, that's recent history. Without this book, I'd still be marketing soft drinks. Bloody hell. Thank you Sarah.

And thanks to @bgsdstudio for featuring my random paraphernalia on your epic website. Big love.

Coffee + questions // I'm meeting with a new client this morning* and it's one of my favourite parts of the coaching process. I get to understand more about what's working for a client, what's not and how I can support them to get 'unstuck' and heading towards #GloriousWellness.
It's a perk of my job to see clients change their relationship with food and their bodies. When you feel well, you make better decisions, think clearly and perform at a higher level. You're also able to get more done in a focused, present way – whether it's work, working out or hanging out with people you love.

This was taken 18 months ago road trippin' from Brisbane to Noosa. We spent hours talking about life plans and new business ideas. This morning I'm ridiculously excited that my friends and their baby boy have arrived in London for the UK launch of their amaaaaaazing brand today. Eeeek. More details comin' later.

Beside the sea // feels good to sneak out of the city for the day. Admittedly half of London appears to be here today but still. Blue sky, beach, sea air and THE most delicious vegetarian food @terreaterrebrighton makes for a very fine day indeed. The food was so good that even Mr H said 'I think this is going to be alright' when his food arrived, then went silent as he devoured it. Praise indeed. How's your day been?

The sun sets late at this time of the year (did you know that the sun sets at 9:41pm on the solstice?) and I love that feeling of it being barely dark when it's time to go to bed. Altho it can be harder to wind down in the evenings and to get enough sleep on #selfcaresunday before the week starts again.

I have a little #sleeproutine to help me wind down:
- 🛁 a shower to wash away the day
- I try not to eat too late - ideally before 8pm
- 🌾camomile tea before bed - a phone & computer blackout after 8pm (that's a work in progress...!)
- and black out blinds so that our bedroom is really dark. An eye mask does the trick too.

What helps you to get good quality sleep?

Night night London. We're off to somewhere where the sun sets much earlier ✈ so will see how well I sleep there. Very well I'm thinking, given how busy this week has been.

Road trippin // well, train trippin really. We've seen some stellar sights over the past few days whilst my niece has been in town. And there's something soothing about staring out of a train window. She's heading home today so it's time for one more train journey into London then back to the usual routine tomorrow. Hope you have some lovely summer trips planned.

Let's sweat // Happy Monday. Hope you had a good weekend. How are you going to move your glorious butt today? It's lashing with rain here but ain't nothing gonna stop me from getting outside for a big walk. The worse the weather, the more I want to get outside and tune into what's going on beyond my desk/screen/head. Time to get a blast of fresh air, get the blood pumping and body moving. If you haven't moved much yet today (or might not be planning to!), a walk helps even if it's just round the block a few times. Your body and brain will thank you.

Today's #womancrushwednesday shout out is for the talented, big-hearted, self care afficionado Mel Noakes @selfcarecoach whose brand spankingly new book The Little Book Of Self Care is out right now.

I love Mel cos she radiates joy and positivity and she cracks me up. We 'met' via Facebook as you do - then met in real life and realised we had a loads in common including leaving crazy corporate jobs to follow our passions.

Berry love // I 💙 berry season.....blueberries anytime, followed by strawberry season (although now that Wimbledon🍓🎾 is finished it feels like strawberry season will soon be over)

But wait.....it's soon going to be blackberry season and that means:

🍇#foraging ! Ain't nothing better than a free berry so I'm ready to hit the hedgerows and get picking. I was out for a walk this morning and saw that the blackberries are starting to ripen.

🍇Blackberries are a source of anthocyanin, a powerful phytonutrient that’s been shown to protect the brain from oxidative stress. And they're loaded with vitamin C plus soluble and insoluble fibre to help keep our guts happy.

Thankful Thursday!!! Today I'm bowing with gratitude to all the beautiful talented souls who have turned to me since opening the doors of Well Spirited. It's an honour and truly so satisfying helping people share their good work through the means of the media.
And today I want to give particular thanks to Rebecca Hirst of @gloriouswellness who's ☝️in action doing her @tedx_official talk. This woman's story really is one of interest and something for us all to learn from. After Rebecca had been suffering adult acne for many years with huge frustrations she *finally* found the culprit...stress and lack of good quality nutrition. So she quit her job as Marketing Manager at Coca Cola and went onto open up @gloriouswellness to help stressed successful people also feel as glorious as her. So when she contacted me after our work together to say she not only had put herself forwards for a local TedX talk BUT she'd been accepted I wasn't surprised in the least. This lady walks her talk and really is SO generous spirited.

I just love watching clients stand back in surprise as they take on my no-limits ethos to sharing their good work in the world. So I was flattered when Rebecca chose ME for her#womencrushwednesday yesterday 👇💕 ・・・
I want to give a #WomanCrushWednesday shout-out to Suzie Bartle founder of @WellSpiritedPR. We met a couple of years ago and I love her straight-talking-anything's-possible-let's-DO-this vibe.
