Oh hey. It's #wellnesscrushwednesday and I am crushin' on these two amazing women.

The unstoppable Karen Jones @happyyouhappybody whose first book launched yesterday. She tells her story from becoming a mum at 16 via LOTS of twists and turns (I won't spoil it except to say that yes that's a bikini body competition shot of Karen in her late 40s for which she trained without setting foot inside a gym...💪 ) to where she is now. Fitness inspiration and motivational speaker.

And on her left is @alyjharrold our speaking coach extraordinaire to whom I will be forever grateful for getting me prepped for my TEDx. Without Aly I might have bottled it. Glad I didn't. Loved every minute once I was ON stage altho waiting in the wings to go on was 💩 scary....

Bright and early on Friday mornings I meet virtually with a high-flying husband and wife team in Australia. They're juggling multiple business and a new bubba. My job's to get them feeling gloriously well.

I video call with them individually to address their specific needs AND together so we can make a plan that works for the whole family.

After the early start I grab breakfast. Some days it's eggs and some days I feel the need for granola (homemade - lots of recipes on www.gloriouswellness.com) or porridge made with oats, @plenishcleanse almond milk, cinnamon, a few nuts or seeds and some fruit for sweetness. I have an orange most mornings for a big hit of vitamin C, fibre and just 'cos I love them 🍊.

Simplest lunch with serious oomph.

Spelt sourdough toasted.
Sardines in olive oil mashed on top.
Lemon squeezed. Zest grated🍋

Sardines are ridiculously under-rated. Why?! They're sustainable. Cheap. And full of fabulous omega-3s. Great for skin, nails and brain power. If I need a quick, brain-boosting lunch, this is my go-to. Now I'm all set and off into London for meetings at a brilliant creative agency then catch ups with @zestylady 🍋

The Lucky Six. Things that keep me (and my clients) gloriously well. What keeps you well?

Celebrating the good things makes for a Lucky Seven. So a big Happy Birthday to my sis @alisonevans. She lives in Melbourne, which means we don’t get to see each other IRL very often but [woop woop!] I've just booked a flight to Melbourne to spend a month with big sis + family in January.

A trip to Oz is always a massive source of inspiration for #gloriouswellness. Aussies are so darn healthy. Looking forward to heading back to my fave spots and finding a few new ones.

Oh hello #wellnesscrushwednesday how did you come around again so fast? Today I'm crushin' on @styling_matters who's been helping me this week. She's a personal stylist and is utterly lovely, not scary at all (some stylists DO scare me I admit) and is bloody brilliant at what she does.

It's been like a change-of-seasons spring clean and spruce up. We'd edited my (very minimalist....er actually a bit threadbare) wardrobe, made a list of what I needed (not too much, otherwise I get a bit weirded out if I have too much stuff) and then had a VERY focused day together in only 2 shops getting my autumn/winter wardrobe sorted.

AND we squeezed in a lovely lunch here @hemsleyselfridges en route.

Do you suffer from an afternoon energy crash? Don’t reach for the biscuits or chocolate as sugar will make that energy rollercoaster worse.

A break from your work and a breath of fresh air helps. Even a quick walk round the block helps to get your blood pumping, gets stagnant energy flowing and distracts you for long enough for the sugar craving to pass.

I spotted this little fellow on my lunchtime walk. I always feel better after a break. Do you get away from your desk / work at lunchtime?

I’m a big fan of real world wellness, which means I’m not a stickler for eating super healthily 100% of the time. That ain't real life.

Instead, I suggest an 80/20 ratio: eat natural, unprocessed and colourful food 80% of the time and allow yourself a few indulgences to make up the remaining 20%. This might be a few glasses of wine each week, a piece of cake, or a handful or three of crisps now and again. Whatever floats your boat. The main thing is to give yourself the best nourishment you can MOST of the time and your body and brain will love you for it.

I am pretty cheery today because I've met a new client for her first session, video-called with a client in Oz who's mid-way through her Glorious Wellness programme and seen a client who's finished a 3-month intensive programme with me and who I now see once a quarter for a fine-tune. It's good to re-connect and make sure the wellness-boosting strategies we put in place are still the right ones. If not, we tweak them. It's all about staying on top form for the long haul and sometimes a fine-tune helps.

They were amazzzzing for a recent trip to Dubai where the temperatures hit 40°c most days. 💋I love Carly for her energy, generosity, big entrepreneurial bravery and for making a positive impact on how women feel. 🥒🍃I recently shared a recipe for my super tasty courgette, pea + mint soup (link in bio 👆) because they're still in season and you might be getting them in your veg box for a while longer.

Courgettes are a source of vitamins A and C, both are helpful for the immune system. This soup also contains chickpeas to make it more filling and creamy without adding any dairy. I love chickpeas - mainly to fulfil my hummus addiction - and also 'cos they're a good source of protein and fibre AND they provide the mineral selenium. It helps the enzymes of the liver to function properly and detoxify. Clever little chick peas. .

🌶🍃The start of something simple and delicious for a lazy Sunday night supper. HAD to find a way to use up the masses of chives in our herb patch so am gonna try a twist on a @markbittman salad of chives and lettuce with chilli, sesame and an asian inspired dressing. .

A lot of people I know are away on holiday this week soaking up loads of glorious sunshine. Slightly jealous given how murky it is here in #London today.

☀️ Sunshine is critical for keeping us well. It's THE best source of vitamin D and when we expose our skin (safely) to the sun during these summer months, we're building up our stores of #vitaminD to last us through winter.
.
I have pale skin and 15 minutes of sun exposure on my arms and legs at lunchtime in the UK is enough for me. Darker skins that tan more easily may tolerate more - the key is never, ever to burn.
.
If I'm going to be out for longer, either I cover up or put on some suncream. Only thing is, I hate suncreams. Well most of them. Except one that I recently discovered that doesn't create havoc for sensitive skin.

They don't call him the Father of Modern Medicine for nothing. Hippocrates was a verrrrrrry wise man (er...slight understatement...) and when it comes to your health, listening to – and trusting – your gut is incredibly important. It's what I focused my last TEDx talk on: trust your gut because it NEVER lies.

Maintaining healthy gut flora can help boost many aspects of our overall health and wellness including immunity, sleep, skin and energy. Eating cultured (i.e fermented) veg is a good place to start.

A client I’m working with today is on the board of directors for a sports footwear brand and knows that happy feet can make a massive difference to our day / life / sporting prowess.

Even though she’s super sporty herself and makes healthy eating a priority, she works with me to help her manage her energy, so that she’s able to be top of her game during long work days and lots of international travel. After all, it’s all about finding that balance between high-flying and being grounded.

Doesn't matter where I am in the world, sitting or standing (even better with bare feet) on grass is one of my fave ways to get grounded quickly.

Keepin' it real // I was asked yesterday what I think about #cleaneating. I prefer to focus on eating #realfood. The stuff that's grown locally, seasonally, that's simple and straightforward. Sure, I love spices and avocados and coconut too, but mostly aim to keep it as local as I can. And the other thing I love about real food is that it's unprocessed - it's the stuff that looks like how it started out in life. Nothing weird or unpronounceable about the ingredients.
