DEEP DIVING DETAILS:
After taking two sips of this fabulous elixir, I questioned why the hell I waited so long to open it. To think that I was *this* close to passing on this sword-yielding, dancing machine when I saw it at @bottlecraftsolanabeach is sort of comical at this point. Self-described as karate chopping, kaleidoscope nun-chucking, Northeast-style Hazy IPA, this Disco Ninja is on fire. I loved this beer. Like a lot. It checked all the boxes for me when it comes to what I look for in a NE-style brew
Coming in at a mild 40 IBU and 7% ABV, Disco Ninja kung-fu’d it’s way in the right direction with an emerging glow that would turn heads around the globe. Hazy, golden yellow (almost Pilsner-esque) with a dense, tightly-packed head of foam, this beer looked damn near perfect. After the beer rested for a few minutes, I gave it a whiff and noted copious amounts of melon along with a more-mild citrusy grapefruit. Alongside the citrus bouquet were traces of peppery spice and an unexpected, but very pleasant danky grass. Bright and bubbly, this jive hustler sat easy in the mouth and offered up a perfect medium body. The taste, for me, was the highlight of the disco bonanza. Ninja was a bit tropical up front with a heavy dosage of melon and stonefruit. Those flavors were sliced and diced halfway through by a floral, grassy flavor and rinsed away with a mild, but smooth, hoppy bite. I battled a whopping 10 minutes with this one before it was all gone – that tends to happen when it’s good, I guess. My only regret? I don’t have more
If you can’t tell by now, I’m higher than a LSD-taking, funky-chicken-dancing, son of a gun about this beer. I’d recommend it you give it a try. This is just one of those great examples of a Western state doing right by the Northeast style
None that I can think of beyond not being able to have this one as an everyday go-to
