Meditation is a practice that I have taken up rather inconsistently over the past few years at the recommendation of some of my teachers at CSU. Fast forward 5 years later and though I haven’t made it as consistent as my fitness routines I know that when I DO practice mindfulness I am in general a much better human being. One of my goals this summer as I gear up for who knows what to come is to add mindfulness practice back into my daily routine. In preparation for my recitals this past year I was practicing more routinely and it really helped me keep the stress under control. More on that later!
Anyway, recently I have been struggling to get to sleep. If you know me, you know that I’m really not the best sleeper or napper and it’s been this way since my childhood. In my opinion it’s one of the unhealthiest things about my lifestyle still and I want to make some improvements in this area. According to my CPAP machine my daily average since 2009 is 5.1 hours of sleep! How about that for a bit of a rude awakening (PUN INTENDED) 🤓! ….
So last night I did a little 10-minute yoga session and discovered some new additions to the Beachbody Yoga Studio…and y’all these people aren’t stopping with great workouts and a cooking show on the app….now a guided meditation to get to sleep? 😍
I got in bed, strapped on my clunky face mask, pulled up the app, put in my headphones, set my alarmS (because I am one of those people who need 20) 😂 and proceeded to go through this mediation and now we’re here. I’m so well-rested and got a FULL 8- hours of sleep 😴 ! After being sick for two days I needed a good night’s sleep and needless to say this will be my go-to for getting to sleep when I “don’t feel tired”, which is usually the excuse of not being able to fall asleep. I am feeling grateful right now for sleep..and excited I found AND tried this meditation :) 🙌🏼
