Psalms 127:2. Many people today are overworked and exhausted. We spend so much time working that some of us end up working from early in the morning to the late hours of the night. Although God wants us to have a strong work ethic, He never intended for us to work so much that we become exhausted and sleep deprived while neglecting other areas of our lives like our families, health, and relationship with God. When we are sleep deprived, we cannot perform as well as we can and should so our work becomes poorer as we get run down. Our spiritual life is also affected by exhaustion because we become too tired to serve God diligently and may slack off on our prayer and Bible study. God gives us a day of rest each week so that we can rest, relax, and reenergize so that we can continue doing the best work we are capable of doing. We owe it to God and to ourselves to take advantage of the rest God gives us so that we can always be at our best.
