This is one of the niyamas in our yoga practice. Purity or cleanliness. Saucha is an easy one for me, not always, but in my adult life I've always hated mess. I make my bed when I get up straight away. I shower before (as ashtangis we should) and after practice (quick 3-5 minute showers for those of you who are going to say something about water usage 😊✌🏼). I put socks and shoes on to walk to the Shala and I keep my socks on until right before I step on my mat. I use a mysore rug or yoga towel over my mat and keep it clean. My mat gets washed when I get home. I love to keep things clean. Just ask my husband 😂. Lucky I am living with the clean queen herself @sleek.chameleon .
Aside from external cleanliness, internally we need to keep clean too. Watching what we eat is a big part of it. Only eating pure and healthy foods is part of a yogic lifestyle. This is part of the detox our body goes through with our asana practice. Of course I'm not the perfect eater, but who is?? I do what I can to make sure what I put into my body is good for it (besides maybe the chocolate man's cookies 🙃). These things help to have clean thoughts and a clear brain. Clean bed, clean head.
How do you implement saucha in your life??
