Lightning, rainbows, light, and atmospherics...Mother Nature put on quite a show at the Grand Canyon yesterday!
The wind was fierce, forcing me to shoot from a very low position and to take shelter behind a ledge. At one point, something told me to turn around an check on my backpack. When I did, I found that the wind was blowing my bag towards the edge.....that was with a camera body, 2 lenses, and water in the pack! #monsoonishere #lightningandrainbow #crazyweather

Afternoon light on the buttes overlooking Lake Powell.

What's more American than the flag flying proudly over the Grand Canyon? Happy 4th of July everyone! #grandcanyon #4thofjuly #happybirthdayamerica🇺🇸

With the temperatures on the rise I thought it might be nice to cool off with a closer look at the hidden world of details in ice. It’s really incredible how when you photograph a scene like this in shade and underexpose the photo a bit it looks so much like a scene from deep space.
I think I’ll make this part of a series that I’ll share over the course of this weekend. #staycool #iceart #artinice#frozenwonder

The warmth of shiny rocks in the late afternoon always warm my heart.

This was one of the most incredible sunrises I've had the privilege to witness over the Grand Canyon. From this remote location on the East Rim, you can look down to the Colorado River as it makes its way through the final stretch of Marble Canyon. As it approaches the Grand Canyon it comes to the turquoise waters of the Little Colorado River at the Confluence.
The colors on this morning were off the charts with shades of crimson and vermilion. The sky was on fire behind us reflecting warm colors and light into the depths of the canyon.
I created this photograph using a Sony a7RIII and FE 16-35mm f/2.8GM lens. The image is a result of stitching three frames for greater resolution resulting in an 88-megapixel photo. Someone needs this printed huge for their wall.

Sedona sunset...enough said. Have a great weekend everyone!

Sunset over Conquistador Aisle. From mile 124 along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park.

I sat here by myself below the Tapeats ledges listening to the Colorado River flow past as the sun rose over the towering walls of Conquistador Aisle. I wasn't far from our camp, but I may as well have been a million miles away. Time seems to stand still, if just for a moment. It's in special places such as this that you can't help but get lost in the moment and let go of the frustrations of modern life.
There's nothing quite like time below the rim and on the river.

A waterfall cascades into a pool of water reflecting the warm colors of the canyon walls high above. From National Canyon in Grand Canyon.

Monsoon magic from Cape Royal on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Just a few minutes earlier the view into the canyon was completely masked by clouds.
I have 2 spots open in my August workshop. Check the link in my bio for more info.

I am really looking forward to the monsoon season at Grand Canyon! This is when the canyon comes to life as rain falls, the air cools, and if you're lucky you get a rainbow. It's an incredible time to capture the canyon.

The Colorado River cuts through Marble Canyon towards the confluence with the Little Colorado River whose turquoise waters can be seen emerging from the canyon on the left. This image is the result of a 5-image stitch.

Sunrise in Canyon Country
The wind has been howling lately, and it’s kicking up a lot of dust. That dust makes for some great atmospherics here in the canyon country of northern Arizona.

Whispering Waters

Reflected light and striated sandstone. From ‘The Wave’ in Arizona. #sonyalpha a7RII.

Full moon rising over the Grand Canyon. Captured with the @sonyalpha a7RII and Sony 24-70mm f/2.8GM lens on a @reallyrightstuff TVC-34L tripod with BH-55LR ballhead. I also been using the new @rollei1920 Filter Holder Mark II and their excellent graduated neutral density filters. #ourplanetdaily

I captured this awesome sunset at the Grand Canyon several years ago as a winter storm was clearing from the canyon. #damnthatsbeautiful #ourplanetdaily
