This morning I’m listening to devotional adaptations from John Piper’s book Future Grace, and it seemed perfect to be sharing this image with you. It’s perfect because the motivation that put me in position to make this photo was not my gratitude for any past sunrises, as thankful for them as I may be. Instead, I spent a restless night in a tent on a mountain ridge because I had faith that the sun would again rise the next day. I had some reason to believe it wouldn’t be a dreary morning, but I had full assurance that the night would in fact give way to light. That is the way I want to follow Jesus, trusting not only that he has accomplished great things for me, but also that he will show up each day in just the ways that I need!
