As a pharmacist, I know that there is a time and place for medicine but also that diet and nutrition are also key to disease prevention and treatment. ๐Ÿ’š I donโ€™t talk about my own personal journey very often but want to today just to show that diet changes can really work in treating disease symptoms. When my older boys were younger, I had one of the most severe cases of Interstitial cystitis ( a painful bladder disorder) that Mayo Clinic had ever seen. I could barely leave my home while caring for my young and active boys. I completely eliminated all acidic food from my diet. For years, I practically only ate bread and water( not the most healthy, I know)! It wasnโ€™t overnight, but I have to say flash forward 20 years and I feel amazing! Some days are better than others, but overall I can live my life the way that I want! I say this not for attention; but also to let anyone know who has painful symptoms there is hope!! ๐Ÿ’– My point is, do not be opposed to diet suggestions for symptoms. Reducing gluten can help thyroid and GI issues. Reducing sodium intake can help lower blood pressure. Eating whole and healthy food can increase your energy, help you lose weight (if any of your issues are weight related). Always say Yes before you say No and know your own body.
