Who has cravings? 🙋🏼♀️
Cravings for salty, sweet, crunchy, etc. are real and can effect you even if you’re not pregnant...
Reasons we have cravings:
- Nutrient deficiencies. For example if we’re craving a lot of red meats we could be deficient in iron. - Eating more added sugars in our diets than we realize. The more sugar we eat the more we crave. - Not eating adequate protein. Protein is a key in helping our bodies balance blood sugar. - Eating a low calorie diet, depriving ourselves of both nutrients and a sweet treat now and again.
- Lack of sleep, hormonal imbalances and more.... So what can you do? 🤷🏼♀️
- Eat balanced meals and snacks. Do not always reach for the easy packaged foods. Make sure you’re including a good protein source. - Eat well rounded. Include a variety of vegetables, healthy fats and proteins throughout your day. Fruit is great for when those sugar cravings or dips in energy creep in. - If you want a cookie, ice cream, adult beverage, chips, etc. Buy yourself one portion, eat it slowly enjoying it and move on.
