Probably one of my favorites on the whole Canada trip. Not the picture itself but the story behind. This young Grizzly appeared in Hyder, Alaska and started to hunt some salmons in the river there. But instead of catching a fish, he started to play around and splash in the water. It was lovely to see how happy he was. You probably think, all the salmons disappeared after this little show but they did not. Just before the salmons spawn, they are very weak and have no energy left after the brutal way from the sea to the place where they were born some years ago. They die right after spawning and because of that, it is not very hard for a bear to catch a fish at this time of the year. Eventually this Grizzly could get some fish and i had a nice memory in my pocket.
