Recently, I’ve been thinking quite a bit about when you change your physical appearance, it doesn’t automatically fix your perception of yourself and that change doesn’t enable you to control how others perceive you. Those that feel the need to whisper about your journey will always be there. Their whispers may change, but you will still hear them. It’s all about how you choose to process that information.
The girl on the left heard a lot of things:
▪️You don’t work hard enough
▪️You eat too much (junk)
▪️You don’t care enough
▪️You are not enough
The girl on the right hears a lot of things too:
▪️You work-out too much
▪️You don’t eat enough
▪️You care too much
▪️You are too much
You will always be too much for some and not enough for others. It’s about being enough for you. It’s something I struggle with daily. I hear what is said about me and how I choose to live my life, but I am doing a disservice to me by letting those comments take hold of my self worth.
People you know, see, and interact with every day…you don’t always know their whole story. So, I’m taking the challenge to try a little harder to be a little better, to myself and to those around me. You never know what can happen when you make an effort to be less critical, you just might like yourself more.
Just some food for thought on your Tuesday: Be a nice human.
