It was great to see three of my Crew of 2012 out for a visit this afternoon. On the left is Joel Barrette, Class of 2013 - middle is Lance Bai, Class of 2012 and on the right is Fred Weberling , German exchange student, 2012. Fred is out from Germany for a visit and made some time this afternoon to come out and watch a practice. Joel was also a member of the National Champion Senior Men's 8+ (Calder Cleland Trophy), in his Grade 12 year. He went on to row at the University of California Berkeley for his freshman year before transferring back to Canada and the University of British Columbia. Lance was a member of the Brentwood Varsity 8+ for two years winning an impressive four silver medals at the CSSRA's. The Senior Men's quad race in 2012, with Fred, they lost the gold by 0.01 seconds! Lance has just graduated from the University of Victoria with a degree in Chemistry. Fred had a great 2011-2012 year at Brentwood. In the fall of 2011 he raced in a coxed four with Brentwood and finished 8th out of 77 teams at the Head of the Charles. His crew, with Joel and Lance, won the High School 8+ at the Brentwood Regatta. At the CSSRA's, Fred teamed up with Lance , Jan Bernhard from Germany and Jeff Birtwistle from Victoria to win the silver in the quad and the silver in the Senior Men's 8+. @OldBrentonians #alumni #bcsrowing
