“Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.”
2 Corinthians 5:14-15 NLT When you wake up in the morning what is the first thing you think of? What is the last thought running through your mind before you go to bed? What motivates your decision making? These are important questions we should be asking ourselves.
In 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 we see what the answer to these questions SHOULD BE. Paul writes about a different type of love, a love that controls every aspect of your life. This "Love of Christ" is not a puppy type of love, it's not a "get chocolates and a bouquet of flowers" type of love. The type of love paul speaks of goes deeper. If your conception of love is writing letters back and forth & receiving gifts you are giving the word "love" a harmful name. Paul's words should help us realize that this love is not simply a feeling for someone, but actions that come from understanding perfect love. Perfect love that shed HIS blood on the Cross for our sinful nature, but We don't just love him because he saved us, we love him because he is worthy.
