THE FEMINIST WORKOUT || Nah, I'm just kidding... this workout is for everyone because the truth is, if you have a vagina you're a feminist (and if you're a good human you're a feminist too). Unfortunately there is still a small but underlying anti-feminist culture in the fitness industry - it's certainly getting better but it's important that we (as women especially) recognise it and don't allow it to be continued. Don't be bullied out of the weights room if that is something you WANT to try or be a part of. Of course women don't HAVE to train weights but there are a truck load of benefits, for women in growing the strength that weight training can bring - in particular, the prevention of osteoporosis (which is statistically more prevalent in women than in men) because heavy resistance training has shown to IMPROVE bone mineral density. This is not me saying women should be the same as men or be as physically strong as men because that would be difficult and maybe even unnecessary from a physiological stand point - however we can certainly aim to be strong and bad ass in our own way. Ambition on fleek๐Ÿ”ฅ my resistance bands I purchased last week have made a huge difference in my leg day routine!! I may look all put together in this photo but when I comes to leg day there's nothing cute about it lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ there's lots of scrunched butts from squeezing, lots of grunts, grinding teeth, and lots and lots of sweat haha but in the end it's sooo worth it! To achieve a well rounded leg and glute workout (puns lololol), incorporate knee dominant (lunges), glute dominant (hip thrusts) and hip dominant (deadlift variations) movements. Throw in some lateral movements (band abductions) as an accessory.

Last night's lunch prepping #likeaboss ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ There's been lots of exciting life stuff going on for me in past few weeks but not so much BBG. Need to get my motivation back!

๐Ÿ”นWhat foods do you NOT eat? // the ONLY thing on my off limits list is diet caffeinated sodas- Otherwise, nothing is off limits for a cheat meal (once a week). During the week, I try to keep foods with lots of mayo, sour cream, cheese, and ketchup to a minimum. But like I've posted before, I don't do low carb, low fat diets. I just choose healthy (complex) carbs and healthy (unsaturated) fats more often than not
๐Ÿ”นWhat is BBG?// BBG stands for the Bikini Body Guides- which are ebooks and app (Sweat with Kayla in the App Store) created by @kayla_itsines and @tobi_pearce The workouts start out with 3 days a week (focusing on legs, arms, and abs)- and are 28 minutes comprised of circuit style plyometric exercises- utilizing body weight and free weights. The guides and the app also include cardio in the form of HIIT and LISS

What kind of equipment is needed?// I do both- for the first 12 weeks I did ALL my BBG workouts at home- the only equipment I used was a jump rope, a few sets of Dumbbells (ranging in weight from 5-20lbs), and a mat. Since then, I started to do more of my workouts at the gym- partly because I felt more confident, and also to have access to more weights- but you can make a few equipment purchases and continue to do the workouts at home
๐Ÿ”นHow do you find balance between healthy eating and treats/unhealthy foods?// I've talked about this a lot but I LOVE my weekly cheat meals! For the most part I hold out on those "unhealthy" foods for my cheat meal on the weekend- but I do occasionally have a treat here and there throughout the week- I still factor it into my calories for the day, and then move on with my healthy food choices
๐Ÿ”นWhat are your macro percentages?// I don't count all macros- just overall calories and protein (120g of protein daily). The first 20 weeks of BBG I ate about 1600 calories-then I've gradually increased to about 2300 calories, which gives me about a 1500-2000 cal surplus each week/ with my cheat meal. I'll be surplus eating for a total of 6 weeks then I'll decrease calories down to a slight fat burn level for another 6 weeks- I'm enjoying experimenting with bulking and cutting! #sdangerfitfaq

Nothing like a new pair of leggings to motivate yourself to get you ass to the gym! Real talk though, I took about 30 pictures including this one, but in all of them my arms looked flabby, my thighs were too big, I wasn't sucking in my stomach enough. I'm looking through my photos and getting really mad at myself for hating on how I look. I stopped, looked at myself in the mirror and had to remind myself YOU ARE ENOUGH. Love your body, because it's the only one you've got. #selflove is so friggin important, y'all.

Today is my two year anniversary with my lovely partner in crime! We went out for some super yummy cheeseburgers and then tried out my new bubble face mask (which he is pretending to not enjoy, but he didn't leave the mirror the whole time because he thought the bubbles were hysterical). I don't even feel guilty about that greasy burger, because I'm not going to look back and be like, "Damn, should of gotten a salad!" I'm going to look back and remember the laughs we had as we celebrated our love for each other. Happy anniversary, Bubs. I love youโค๏ธ

Some days I seriously struggle to get myself to the gym, but I just keep telling myself "The only workout I'll ever regret is the one I don't do." Off days are allowed, just as long as you kick ass extra hard the next day๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

Before my holiday I did a massive big fridge and pantry clean out, this afternoon I went and got some essentials and healthy snacks anddd since I been gone the @chobaniau flips must of come out soooo time to try them all ๐Ÿ˜ I got all sorts of things that caught my eye today, just back from holidays so no list or prep haha my favourite @tableofplenty rice crackers now come with a strawberry yogurt topping so had to get some of them, I got some organic haloumi, @califiafarms almond milk as I hadn't tried it yet, green tea of course ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿผ fresh berries, some new protein bars I hadn't seen before, some ACV (morning ritual), avo's, some herbamare which I have been meaning to try also and lots of other goodies. I am giving myself a week to settle back into routine and then next Monday it's on!!
