Diana Yip, Youth Program Manager and Lead Film Instructor: Since studying both community psychology and film and digital media at @ucsc, Diana has been passionate about combining #storytelling and #socialjustice. As a freelance filmmaker and editor, Diana has been involved with a number of film projects that allowed her to work with mis- and under-represented people. She is credited in such projects as Visitor’s Day, The Lexington Club Archival Project, and Free for All: Inside the Public Library. For the past 5 years, Diana has also been a film and media #educator for underserved youth. Through teaching and creating film, Diana wants people to know that their stories and their family’s stories matter even though they aren’t fully reflected in mass media. Growing up as the queer, Asian-American daughter of an immigrant mother, the search for people who looked like her in the media was (and still is) often unsuccessful. #NowMoreThanEver, Diana is driven to create media that represents marginalized communities with the complexity, nuance, and respect they deserve.

Adam Wright, BUMP Instructor: Adam, otherwise known as “”Mic-G,”” is an educator, rapper, writer, public speaker and father, amongst a host of other things. He got his start in education early, volunteering as a teacher’s aide for @oaklandparks Summer Arts Program. This propelled him to the position of teacher complete with his own curriculum and teacher’s aide. “”But can he play any sports?”” you may be asking yourself…well no, but he does invest much of his time reading self-help and emotional intelligence books along with dedicating some of his leisure time to giving mini lectures and motivational talks to high school students. Adam received his AS in Graphic Design from Westwood College of Technology. His unique background and experience has led to many different job titles usually serving as vehicles to promote mental and emotional wellness. Adam has released a mixtape and two albums under the title, “”Mic-G”” serving as in-depth reflections of the emotional expectations of African Heritaged youth on the background of American societal norms. He currently resides in #Oakland with his wife and their children where he (meaning his wife) maintains the order of the house with soft words to match his chill personality.
