The ascetic, barrel-vaulted dining room at La Malcontenta (Villa Foscari), designed by Andrea Palladio in 1560 in the Veneto region of Italy. The most recent stewards, Antonio Foscari (descendant of the original owner) and his architect wife Barbara del Vicario, updated the design of the dining room with chairs based on a Roman model. Del Vicario also designed the candle holders on the table, and the columns on either side of the doorway, which came from her Ottagono line. The chandelier of sixty Murano glass bowls is made for candles. Photo by François Halard as featured in HG in 2001. For more on this extraordinary Palladian villa click link in Bio.
Views on this Gothic Looking house ? I think it’s stunning , looks like it could be used in the Addams Family 😄 all jokes aside built by New Haven’s first female doctor, Mary Blair Moody, in 1876, and the five bedroom home was later owned by a prominent chemist who filled its gardens with peacocks.
A shot of Palladio's Basilica in Vicenza, which served as a historical precedent for the main entry of our French Country House (or Petit Chateau as we call it on our website - link in bio). In this case, there are many series of four columns supporting a series of archways. #inspiringarchitecture#palladio#palladioperfection
