In the past 12ish years, I put my body through absolute hell and back. This body - this ONE and ONLY body I have - has put up with me through all the lows (obesity, self-deprecation, extreme sadness, extreme insecurity, eating disorders, etc.) and all the highs (confidence, more security, HAPPINESS, positivity, etc.) that came with the roller coaster that was gaining and then losing (and bouncing up and down some more) 85 pounds. Four years ago, I was obese. Am I tiny now? Not even close. I'm not even at my lowest weight anymore. But am I healthier now? Infinitely. Am I stronger now? Definitely. And throughout all of it, this body carried me. This body didn't give up. This body was my one and only vessel to health and happiness. This body reminded me what I was working so hard to achieve and how far I had already come. Why do I love my body? Because after all it's done for me, I DON'T HAVE A CHOICE. It has surprised me over and over, even when my mind has wanted to give up. The least I can do is love it. And, funnily enough, loving it is EXACTLY what gets me closer to my goals. Loving it will keep me healthy and happy. Loving it is the only answer, the only option.
Can't wait to celebrate #WhyILoveMyBodyTB with the Tampa Bay fitness community this week - especially this Tuesday evening at @barmethodtampa (let me know if you want to tag along for a FREE class!) and next Sunday where I'll be co-teaching the #WhyILoveMyBody brunch ride with the incredible @monetiz at @cyclebar_southtampa!
