Today was probably the most 🛶culturally inspiring experience I’ve had in Thailand. @todddowell and I took a private boat canal tour outside of the gigantic city of Bangkok.
For hundreds of years, Thai people have been using their boats to travel on the waterways throughout the country, on the many meandering canals and rivers, long before modern roads existed. Local people have been carried things like seasonal crops, rice, live stocks, timbers and much more in their boats of various shapes and sizes.
We saw floating “convenience” stores, hundreds of houses on tiny little wooden piles in the river, children jumping into the polluted waters like it was nothing, people cooking, reading, we saw monks getting ready for prayer, a Thai chi class and so much more. PLEASE if ur in Bangkok take a canal tour and experience the true authenticity of the city and how traditional Thais life their life.
