Bamboo Building Immersion
Regenerative Design for the Living Earth
May 4th - 11th at Finca Morpho
In this week-long bamboo intensive, we will build a small bamboo cabin from start to finish.
This course is designed for those who would like practical natural building skills and hands-on experience working with bamboo.
If you are an owner-developer, professional contractor, permaculturist, or someone who is simply looking to build with sustainable materials and methods, this immersion is for you.
In these lectures and hands-on workshops you will learn about:
Tools: chainsaws, bamboo hand saws, hatchets, hole saws, and specialty tools
Processing: bamboo varieties, identification, harvesting, treating and curing
Design & Craft: model making, engineering principles, concept to construction, potentials and limitations of bamboo
Techniques: cutting, splitting, bending, lashing, pegging, and making fish-mouth connections, bamboo nails, and binder sticks
Course tuition includes all workshops, lectures, selected accommodations, three organic, farm fresh, plant-based meals per day with snacks... and plenty of fruit and coconuts.
The course is held at Finca Morpho, a regenerative permaculture intentional community in Costa Rica. Finca Morpho is a beautiful beachfront farm close to the OSA peninsula's point of Cabo Matapalo.
For those wanting to further their learning and skills, we are also offering a week-long working building practicum after the course at the Diamante Center to build infrastructure for the upcoming Costa Rica Fruit Festival, atop the majestic Baru Falls!
