Catcher Positional Practice Drills
▪Duck walk- conditioning move that helps work on balance, leg strength, and soft hands during receiving ▪Cover Ground Blocking- drills works on cutting down long angle hops from pitches that are way short. Stop it with your belly button. ▪Range Blocking- work on blocking balls off the plate. Focus on throwing the outside shoulder towards the plate to center your chest up with the dish and block the ball towards the plate
▪Bunt Fielding Relay Race- teams race to field bunts with proper fundamentals and run it into the bucket. First team to field 20 balls correctly and put in the bucket, picks punishment for the other teams. ▪Directional Blocking- rapid movement drill for conditioning and to practice blocking balls from all directions. Elbows out, concave chest, chin tucked, be wide. ---------------
