PM Routine No.2 (of 2)
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
This routine is a little more fun than my other one...and maybe a little too busy for my liking - I usually try to use no more than one serum in a single routine but as I am testing RE:Pigment, I am using it in PM routine No.2 too for at least the first month. This routine is focused more on my secondary concern, pigmentation. I do this routine for the remaining 2/3 days of the week.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Cleanser - #iSClinical Cleansing Complex
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Serum no.1 - #NIOD RE:Pigment. I would not normally use this product in PM No. 2 as I am currently using AoS Overnight Facial which in itself is a brightening product but since I want to test it thoroughly, I am using it twice a day everyday.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Serum no.2 - Non-Acid Acid Precursor. Using this in place of an acid toner. However, the consistency is thicker than RE:Pigment so I am using it as my second serum.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Treatment/retinoid - #Allies of Skin Overnight Facial. This retinoid is approximately half the strength of my Retamax. What it lacks in retinoid content it makes up in nourishment, antioxidants and brighteners.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Protection - NIOD Survival 0 for HEV/IR Protection.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
I apologise in advance if none of this is particularly coherent - writing this while pretty tipsy. Hope everyone had a good Thursday and is looking forward to the weekend xx

◾PM routine No. 1◾
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
I don't often post routines anymore as I have been pretty consistent and regimented about how I approach my routines. But, you know that saying "you wait ages for a bus and then two come along at once"...well replace the word, bus with "empty products" and perhaps take a less literal interpretation of the words "wait" and "two" and you'll find that's the situation I'm in. Lots of empties at once, means lots of newbies too. As per request by @tink_rituals , I'm going to be showing my AM and PM skincare routines to demonstrate how I am incorporating and testing these newbies.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
I have two PM routines - this routine, PM routine no.1, is my main one that I do 4/5 x a week and mainly consists of my workhorse skincare items. This skincare routine deals with my primary skin concern - congestion.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Cleanser - #iSClinical Cleansing Complex. A great low pH surfactant-based cleanser - cleans skin thoroughly but not at the expense of the health of the skin bc of the gentle nature of the surfactants and low pH. A surfactant-based cleanser is a crucial part of my decongestion routine.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Serum - #NIOD RE:Pigment. Usually I like nothing to come between my skin and retinoid but this has slid its way in the middle bc I want to test its ability to tackle pigmentation in the short and long term. It also has quite a thin texture that absorbs relatively quickly.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Retinoid - #ZO Retamax*. A very important part of my decongesting routine. This keeps my skin sebum levels balanced and helps reduce congestion over time. I've always had quite glowy skin but using a good retinoid to reduce congestion has made my skin pretty radiant (I'm quite pleased with my skin progress if you hadn't noticed).
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Protection - Survival 0 for HEV/IR protection.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
* High strength product - may cause irritation or redness in new users.

Next instalment of NIOD- related #1Empty1Newbie posts.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
On the left, my empty - Biologique Recherche P50W. On the right, my Newbie, NIOD Non-Acid Acid Precursor (NAAP). As some of you may know by now I'm a bit of a retinoid-fiend (fab for my congestion). By contrast, I'm a lot more light-handed with acids - which is motivated by 2 reasons: I've noticed my skin doesn't take too well to low pH products whether than be an acid toner or low pH L-Ascorbic Acid serum, and secondly out of a desire not to over-exfoliate.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
As such, my main acid toner since the beginning of the year, with the exception of a few breaks has been the Biologique Recherche P50W - primarly a PHA-based toner (Glucolactone) complemented by a blend of AHAs (Lactic Acid, Malic Acid, Citric Acid) and Phytic Acid to brighten. The sort of marketing behind PHAs is that because they are bigger than AHAs, they penetrate less with the effect of significantly minimising irritation with no compromise to the efficacy. I've never been able to reconciliate the two but since I was after a gentle acid toner, and the BR P50 series is such an esteemed range of acid toners, it made sense to try this one out.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
What makes the P50W gentler still is, as compared to the P50, is the addition of soothing arnica and allantoin and skin-replenishing serine and urea. I wasn't new to acid toners when I first started this, but as mentioned before, I don't take to low pH products too well - I made sure to use this diluted about once or twice a week for two weeks. About 8 months later, I am able to use this undiluted, daily but it really did take months to gradually acclimatise to it...(unlike most instagram #skincarecommunity members who seem to take to the more hardcore versions like a duck to water).
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
The plan was to move onto BR Pigm 400 - a step up in strength (but still less so than to P50) and to tackle pigmentation more directly but since I got NIOD RE:Pigment, I thought it would be a great opportunity to try something purportedly gentler still - NIOD NAAP. A product that coincides roughly with physiological pH. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
