These standing single arm hammer row are a great exercise for an explosive back. Keep your elbows packed in tight, with a focus on a slow, controlled eccentric and concentric; squeezing the living hell out of your lats at peak contraction.

@suegainz shared some awesome info on growing your back a little while ago (that I was able to put a graphic together for 🤗) and I want to bring it back for you guys because it’s really valuable information! Sue is kickass trainer and competitor, one of the best in the biz, so you should listen to her. Peep her original description below (except changed slightly because we speak wayyyy differently 😜) ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
Your back is hard to see and therefore harder to get that mind muscle connection, harder to remember to train, and there are LOTS of different muscles working together and variety of movements is needed. 
You want a COMPLETE back/physique? Gotta go at it from all angles!

* Horizontal pulling will bring you THICKNESS
* Vertical pulling will bring you WIDTH

Wanna make it a little more confusing? Well, due to the broad insertion of the latissimus dorsi (aka your LAT), you may/will need to pull many different ways to hit specific fibers.

To make it a little simpler: Lats create width, while the rhomboids and trapezii give you that thickness.

There’s waaay more too this topic, but the takeaway?
👉🏻 Train in the horizontal plane AND the vertical plane
👉🏻 When programming your training, make sure that you are training each muscle group within a few total sets of each other - we don’t want no imbalances.

Hyperextension into Static (high) face row with 2 dumbbells 🔥
P.S. You will need a hyperextension machine.

Execution:
• position yourself in the Machine comfortably, then bend over and grab the dumbbells!
• perform a deadlift type of move , then return back down so that your upper body is parallel with the floor , from this position perform a rowing movement! Return the dumbbells down and go for another deadlifts, and so on!
• keep the lower back and spine in relatively straight (neural ) position!
• shoulders back and chest tall !
• exhale when you go up through your mouth and inhale on the way down with your nose !

Lol , I know sounds pretty complicated but once your body gets that motor movement pattern it will go smooth like butter ! Practice! And build that thick and strong back , all the way from Lower back to the neck !

Aloha #fitfam #fitfamgermany 🙋‍♂️ Today was Deadlift/Back day. Changed my Deadlift technique a little bit (upper body more steep) and my #hookgrip gets better and better. I was good for 175 kg x4 without pain 👍🏻💪. The rest of the workout was good as well. Got me a great sweat.
