Here I am crossing the Atlantic as a chef on #mondango. All smiles. 5 months before this photo was taken, I was in the Caribbean, injured my back and the yacht did not grant me medical assessment or treatment, so I dealt with it myself; with a back brace and pill popping. Finally it caught up with me; 5 years later my discs started herniating (swipe right) and I’ve been through chiropractors, osteopaths, cranial sacral, physio, pilates… anything to avoid surgery. I won’t bore you with all the details! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚓️ If any other person working on yachts experiences an injury, and is not granted the correct medical assessments - go and seek it!
🌪 It has been testing at times, and as with all such things - there have been hidden blessings 🌈
1 ~ I have had time for developing long term projects like the Gutsy website @gutsy_uk
2 ~ I feel like I have a much deeper understanding and sympathy for so many other people who suffer with crippling issues. I was in fact talking with a lovely woman at an event last week with #IBS. We talked about the daily struggle of constantly juggling something that can be affected by everything and how we are often told it may all be in our heads 🤪Also coping with the cycle that Stress = Back Pain = Stress = Back Pain + round and round it goes ♾
🙏🏻 In a slightly morbid way, I am finding the whole process quite fascinating! All the different theories, healing hands, supportive souls that have come into my life have helped me learn a lot about the mental and physical struggles and have really helped me in my work to help others.
#tuesday ~ Today is a Pain Day, I try not to freak out or question how or why too much, I just drop everything and do only the things that support my back and make me happy.
