Squats always seem harder after a sprint day. Tried to keep a slow tempo down.
My goal is to be able to squat with my son some day so safe, quality movement, rather than just pushing the most weight possible is my emphasis.

Bulgarian Splits 3 x 10 (90s)
Single Leg RDLs 2 x 10
Single Leg Low Back 2 x 10

You gotta pay the fare if you wanna get on the #PR train, and in this case the cost was two torn callouses and two months filled with high-volume squats. Totally worth it, and still a few more chances later this week. Apologies for not having video, but I got home late and had to jump right in.

I was afraid to back squat for years.

I’ve written before about how I literally broke my back while in college as a result of overuse, improper instruction and subpar form.
.
We used to back squat a ton and it was probably the one exercise that hurt the most. Little did I know at the time I was loading a cracked spinal column with upwards of 400 lbs! Not a good combo.
.
Needless to say I was very hesitant to get back under the bar even after my injury healed. Thankfully, I went to school, learned about the body, and became educated about movement and the proper mechanics. I was able to squat again, pain free.
.
Now I only back squat infrequently. I’ve come to know there are several other ways to squat that provide a similar training effect and outcome with a fraction of the risk of the back squat. (Those exercises being front squats, goblet squats, KB rack squats just to name a few).

Often times we get caught up with the numbers of how much weight we’re lifting. Yes it’s cool to lift heavy things but that’s not what’s most important. Choose appropriate exercises that are right for you & move with proper form. No one wants to go through life in pain!

Busy busy day today but I'm glad I started off at #CFPC. Of course #msmodifier didn't do #thrusters and I also chose to go light for all those #backsquats. That being said I subbed the #muscleups with 1 #r x #pullup and one very slow #negativedip. Definitely pushed hard through every rep.

Some work 0100 Tuesday morning, workouts was 5 sets powercleans with 5 reps push press ea set. Then form work -#snatchpulls 5x5 w/255lb, then 4x12 standing single arm db’s, then 10,9,8 reps #weightedpullups w/45lbs. Then 3x6 reps #backsquats with 315lbs, and last 3x20 reps hanging knees to elbows #fivefingerdeathpunch
