Back to France.
For 50 years, pianist Jacques Loussier has taken classic pieces from Mozart, Chopin, Vivaldi, Satie, Ravel and others to interpret them and rearrange them to jazz. It is however with Bach that it all started in 1959. It is as well the Bach repertoire that he has played the most. Some purist would probably scream it is a crime... His impressive discography has shown the popularity of those arrangements but Loussier has participated to different projects with Pink Floyd or Elton John and worked for the film industry scoring a few movies.
The cut is from the very well known Johann Sebastian Bach "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" with Vincent Charbonnier on double-bass and Andre Arpino on drums.
