Thanks for all the likes & comments!! The interview has been translated check bio for link (under the "history" button). I decided to scrap the website look at the blog instead "herrblackmetal.blogspot.se " for the interview.
This is a Emperor (Samoth) interview done by Jon Nödtveidt of Dissection in the June/July 1994 issue of the Swedish "Metal Zone" magazine. You can't read it here but if you follow the link in my bio to my blog (very infrequently updated.. I write long Instagram posts instead). You'll find the interview there in Swedish only. If this gets enough likes/comments I might translate it into English (I haven't seen it anywhere else). Of course me as a metalhead I knew about Black Metal, Mayhem, Varg Vikernes & Burzum, the church burnings and all the drama in 1993. But this magazine is the reason I got into Dissection and bought "The Somberlain" in 1994. This article was why I got my first Norwegian Black Metal album with "In The Nightside Eclipse" by Emperor in 1994. You have to know that back then Black Metal was hated in most commercial metal magazines. And among Death metal people if you liked Black Metal you were a church burning, grave desecration, self mutilating, depressed, satanic maniac according to them. The 2 mentioned bands Dissection & Emperor was the first bands that was accepted because they were so good. Then Cradle of Filth & Dimmu Borgir got their commercial success in 1996... And Nuclear Blast began to release Black Metal. The once hated scene was now embraced by the big metal magazines. -
