Today’s workshop success included a mint and date chutney, chapati, fragrant rice, kitchadi, sweet potato, courgette and kale curry with a whole mung dal.
Thank you ladies and Sharon (@the.ayurveda.kitchen ) for a creative fun afternoon in the kitchen!
As always I learned so much and feel immensely grateful to be able to share and practice the science of life with you 🙏🏼

Today I felt like giving myself and my people some extra love. This milk makes me feel so nourished, grounded and calm. And it warms me up after a cold day in the SNOW! I can’t believe how much it’s been snowing in hamburg this winter.
Go easy on the turmeric and ginger if you already feel wired up and fiery, they will increase those qualities in you.
Recipe is on the homepage and in the swipe up link in stories 💌

I’m curious: do you have a particular morning routine and/or ritual? I start my day with the following:
💦 1-2 glasses of filtered water (when you’ve been sleeping 7-8hrs & sweating during the night, you are dehydrated);
🥥 Oil pulling with organic coconut oil for 5-15mins (depending how much time I have), sometimes I’ll do it during meditation & focus on that completely, sometimes whilst I shower etc;
👅 Tongue scraping to remove all the residue & toxins from oil pulling, plus this Ayurvedic practice is said to help hugely with cravings because you are removing food residue from the day before;
🍋 Drink 1/2 squeezed fresh lemon, INCLUDING the pulp - this is the important part, as the pulp has all the fibre, pectin, potassium etc. Lemon first thing is key to balancing your PH, kickstarting your metabolism, supports slow digestion, balances your blood sugar, gives you a great dose of Vit C (perfect for your immune system)...I could go on! .
🍖 Drink bone broth with 1 tablespoon raw apple cider vinegar - the benefits of drinking bone broth are endless (check out Dr Axe for comprehensive info) but the biggest ones for me are that it reduces inflammation, has loads of collagen (so a great wrinkle fighter! 😉) and is amazing for your gut health. .
Would love to hear your little rituals in the comments below! 🤗

A little year ago I had never heard about ayurveda before, now I've taken several of the ayurvedic practices to me and use them in my everyday life.

#neti has as a positive influence on all sense organs in the head. Strengthens vision and relieves tired eyes (e.g. after working long hours at the computer). Neti can also be helpful in relieving headaches. Memory and concentration are improved. It is also beneficial for problems associated with the nasal and sinus cavities. Neti has a preventative effect against head colds and sinusitis. With regular use, Neti can also cure or at least ease hay fever and pollen allergies. (Do not practice if you have a severe cold or are suffering from earache.)
On the other hand, different areas of the tongue are related to different organs, especially organs of digestion. Although scraping the tongue only remove toxins accumulated in the oral cavity, it is also said to have a mirror effect triggering the digestive system to detoxify as well.
In the #charakasamhita , an early Ayurvedic text, it says that by cleaning the tongue, “(this) removes foul smell, tastelessness … and by taking out dirt coated on the tongue, teeth and mouth brings relish immediately.
In addition, from an Ayurvedic perspective, by removing this coating you improve your ability to taste your food, which makes it more satisfying.

After indulging over the holidays, it’s a perfect time to detox and rejuvenate the body. A simple but very effective way to do this is with black pepper tea. Black pepper helps aid in eliminating toxins from the body especially the digestive system, the raw oil nourishes the nerves and the raw honey gives us instant energy.
To make use:
3-5 ground black peppercorns, 1 cup warm water, 1tbsp raw honey, 1 tbsp raw cold pressed coconut oil or chia oil and voila ☕️🍯

I feel so blessed to get to share healing in this ancient knowledge with open hearted people. Ayurveda has become a way of living and a sustainable way to nourish myself and my loved ones.
Last workshop for the year is done, and I’m already planning a weekend in Zurich, in London, one in Varberg and further a bunch of Hamburg workshops for 2018.

I’m going home to my parents with the intention to be kind, patient and understanding of them and our differences. And our similarities for that matter, that can sometimes be even more so challenging to observe and not react to :)
Happy holidays to you all!

Happy thanksgiving day!
I hope you’re having a cosy day with loved ones, that including yourself. One of the most loving things I’ve learned to do for myself, is to nourish and take good care of my Agni 🔥 (digestive fire).
With a big meal on the table it can be hard to stop eating when I’m full and to stay with the foods I know I digest well. We always do our best, and your best is good enough today! So is mine.
Here are my tips for a healthy digestive fire though the holidays:
• I set my mind to it. I decide before I sit down at the table or even before I walk in to the house of my family, friends etc, how and what I am willing to eat. That makes it easier for me to say no and yes to what I want. May it be that bite of dessert, one plate of food, no turkey, no snacks or what else is right for me at that time. I’m in charge over what I put into my body. I’m aware of the effect different foods have on me and I choose wisely.
• I stop eating at the first burp. That’s my digestion’s way of saying “I’m done down here and can’t take more food!” and I honor that signal. • What ever I decide to eat, I am grateful and enjoy it fully. I take small bites with deep breaths in between. I chew well and allow the food to integrate with my body.
I hope that is of help to some of you. If you would like to have the recipe for a nourishing light meal of kitchadi, comment below ⬇︎
It’s a wonderful go-to-meal when my digestion needs a rest, possibly tomorrow :)
I am grateful for you being here! What are you grateful for today, and every day? 💌

Someone wants a hot bath too 😂 The scent of fresh coriander leaves & essential oil proves too calming (and irresistible) even for our lil' monte ! In Bhutan, hot stone bath are very popular and added with Artemisia absinthium (wormwood, the source of Absinthe) is believed to be an excellent way to ease away joint pain and soothe body ache. Since we don't have that herb & hot stone (yet) right here in Australia, we experiment with coriander, local herbs & pure essential oil instead! #thejourneytolittlebhutan #littlebhutanau #hotbath #ayurvedicpractices #coriander #essentialoil #doterra #minischnauzer
