Getting married is intense, mind blowing and so wonderful! I had days when I was so excited I could barely eat, not usually a problem for me :) With grounding food, abhyanga (self oil massage), my morning practices and enough sleep, we did it! 🙌🏼

...and the sunrise was just as beautiful!
I used to sleep through this magical time of day because I was too exhausted to get out of bed.

I'd like to share some of mine: *Lemon water upon waking up. Aids in digestion and detoxification. *Dry body brushing- increases circulation to the skin, helps shed dry skin, improves blood circulation. *Sesame seed oil self massage before shower. Release skin impurities and tension in muscles from previous work day. *Take Natural Calm magnesium before I sleep. Add to water. I am often low in magnesium but this also helps me sleep, stay calm and can help relieve muscle cramps *Gratitude journal/reflection- Being thankful. Clarify my thoughts/feelings. By writing routinely you can become more clear of your emotional well being and improve problem solving.

Beyond our diets, there are certain things we can do within the Ayurvedic realm to balance our bodies (for more details on Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of medicine, see our blog post on Ayurveda at yogainnovations.com/blog). In general, there are tri-doshic practices to help balance us out (practices for all body types). For instance, massaging the body in oil before bed is an essential Ayurvedic practice. While the type of oil might change depending on your body type, the self-love and effects of the massage are constant for everyone. Also, oil pulling, which has only just become popular in health circles now, has actually been around for millenia within the Ayurvedic world. To oil pull correctly, swish coconut oil in your mouth before brushing your teeth in the morning for 10-20 minutes--this gets rid of the bad bacteria in your mouth and gives you good breath. Make sure not to swallow it! The last practice to discuss is drinking warm lemon water every morning right after waking; not only does this kickstart the digestive system, it keeps it going all day long. Amalaki, also known as #amla, is recognized as an amazing rasayana, or rejuvenative, to the entire system. Oil pulling has become pretty popular recently, but it's not so in Ayurveda! This ancient Ayurveda practice traditionally recommends sesame oil to support healthy teeth and bones. However, many have sought to use coconut oil, but look to see what works for you! All you have to do is swish the oil in your mouth, moving it around both sides; also moving the oil in front of, behind, and through the teeth. You'll continue the process for 15-20 minutes, until the oil has become thin and whitish in color. Then just spit it out and rinse the mouth with warm water, brushing if desired, and voila - you're done! 😁

Are you overwhelmed, exhausted, unhappy and unhealthy?
I hear ya! For years that was me!
I suffered from severe digestive issues, food sensitivities, Adrenal Fatigue, thyroid issues and other hormonal imbalances. I was miserable!
Every day it was a struggle just to do normal daily activities. I barely had the energy to keep my house clean, let alone exercise.
I became a homebody because just the thought of getting ready to go out was exhausting.
I went to several doctors, including my OB/GYN, to try and get some help. To figure out what was wrong with me. I couldn't go on like this any longer!
The OB/GYN told me I would have to be on thyroid medication for the rest of my life, and I that I also needed to be on Hormone Replacement Therapy. Oh and if I developed Breast cancer in 5 years, it wouldn't be from the hormones I was told.
WHAT?!! No thank you!! I'd finally had enough!! I knew I had to take matters into my own hands, because I knew I could heal my own health issues, lose weight, regain my energy levels and
start feeling like myself again if I could just learn how to eat the right food for my body. What I didn't realize was that in order for my results to last, I would also have to deal with the emotional and the spiritual blocks that were keeping me sick and tired.

Oh no! Feeling a cold coming on. Taking care of a sick babe requires time and energy and being left feeling depleted. These are my healthy go tos during cold and flu season. We've been lucky that this Years sickness has been short for our entire family and I've been able to continue (working - which is really doing what I love). Today I felt drained but I was preparing for a healing Yoga Tune Up workshop where I needed to feel energized, focused and my best.
