This time last week I thought I was going to be massively let down 🙏🏽 Bloc Party came out and did, what can honestly be said as the worst opening song I've ever heard. But, this rapidly changed and ended up giving me one of the best hour or so of fun I've had this summer 🎸
After not listening to one of my favorite bands when I was growing up for a fair few years, and knowing that members had dropped out the band, with no distinctive new tracks coming through my ears, I could only presume they fell off the music wagon. So I wasn't that bothered when I saw them as the headliner of the Saturday at @festivalnumber6
Kele the lead singer came on stage (looking slightly different to when I'd seen them headline Alexandra Palace when I was 14 years old), and the very out of time band and ropey vocals left us all very miffed.
Luckily @jakeford09 missed this and came at the end of their second song; Hunting For Witches - which was a bit better.
Classics then fell; Banquet, Flux, The Prayer, Helicopter and a whole host of other tunes with lyrics engrained in my brain from the hours of listening to them on Mini-Disks & Early Ipods. They closed with This Modern Love - and although my brother and I had a hilarious realization half way through this (had to be there moment), this has lead to me listening to all their classic songs on repeat this week.
If you're needing music this week, then either rock out to @thisisblocparty or whip out a forgotten album from your early teens. Guaranteed 🙌🏽👌🏽🤘🏽
