Day 174: Bacchus Brewing Co have been floating around my various news feeds for a while now and I have been really looking forward to trying one of their beers, so I was lucky something popped up in my local bottle shop. You would think this far into the year that it would be hard to find something new and surprising, but this 'Brut Force', a brut style Double IPA is truly unique. The best way to describe it is essentially a dry champagne/white wine layered over a great Double IPA. The interplay between dry white wine flavours and fruity IPA flavours is great. There is also plenty of grassy notes and a resinous finish. Also a highlight is the malt backbone, light but tasty cereal notes compliment this beer. It all feels like a natural fit that makes for a complex and spectacular DIPA.
