Let’s talk about habits for a second.
My habits used to include:
▫️Making a cup of coffee every morning – almost robotically – before giving myself time to wake up naturally and figure out if I even needed caffeine to get through the day.
▫️Coming home after work and de-stressing with a bottle of wine….and drinking until I was tired enough to fall asleep.
▫️Starving myself of carbs during the week so that I could binge on the weekends.
▫️Overexerting myself with cardio workouts to burn off all the food I ate.
Does any of this sound like something you can relate to?
Now, the first thing I do every morning is exercise. My workout’s purpose is to reduce anxiety and help my body become stronger. I only have coffee if I feel like I need it, which most days I don’t. And after work, I stay present in the moment rather than checking out of life with a bottle of wine. I destress with hot tea and quality time with my husband and pup.
It wasn’t an easy transition from those poor habits to these healthier ones I have today. But it also wasn’t the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I didn’t do it all at once, but made small changes over time to get me where I am today. And if I can do it, so can you.
